The United People of Canada: Not really thinking this through.
*Sigh* ... while TUPOC Obergruppenfuhrer William Komer and the rest of his stormtroopers insist that the purpose of TUPOC's most recent Freedom Convoy-themed get-together was to welcome community members in a spirit of "truth-seeking and healing," one wonders how many community members are interested in stopping by (perhaps with their kids) only to have this shoved in their faces:

They probably DO want to be inclusive, healing, peaceful. The same way some North Americans want to become fitness super-stars through b.s. exercise regimens, fad diets, pills. Then when the actual work required becomes evident they quickly lose interest.
We’re just missing the fact that the notion of “community” they’re using is comprised of the knuckle dragging baboons that occupied downtown Ottawa in February - the rest of the world jUsT dOn’T uNdErStaNd!!!
Does anyone know what stage this acquisition is actually at? Some media report that it's a done deal; some have said that it's "conditional".
I ask because I'd really like to know what points of pressure are available to the community at this point.
A conditional offer doesn't allow you to take possession until all the conditions are waived. Since Komer's crew has the run of the place, I'd say it's a done deal.
Anon @ 11:12 AM: Rumour has it that TUPOC is currently *leasing* the church, so that would explain how they can be resident without actually owning the place yet.
*However*, if that's the case, then there is no conceivable way they should be grifting^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H fundraising for upgrades to the facility if they are not yet the owners. That's highly inappropriate.
The definition of "community" here is "a bunch of people who hate everyone who isn't a member".
Your headline is two words too long.
