JUXTAPOSE!

Every media outlet in Canada: "We've been following the so-called 'Freedom Convoy' from as far away as B.C., where numerous big rigs and their supporters are, day after day, driving across Canada and converging on Ottawa, where they have publicly and openly promised to occupy the city until the federal government steps down."

Ottawa police: "We had no idea. If only someone had warned us."

One thing I've noticed about the Ottawa cops is they oscillated between saying "Well, we didn't want to do anything about them because they're good, harmless folk" and saying "Well, we didn't want to do anything about them because we were scared of them".
Pick a lane, boys.

This is a great example of the truth: cops lie, all the time.

And frequently under oath.

From what I've seen so far, I think the OPS was in disarray before the Convoy arrived, and senior leadership was not adequately briefed - or the briefings they got were misleading AF.

That said, Sloly was clearly not able to muster control over the leadership of the OPS, much less the rank and file - with predictable results.

Of course, we shouldn't ignore the obvious moves on the part of conservative politicians at multiple levels of government to attempt to make this "Trudeau's Problem". Not only do we have Bergen's comments to draw that from, but both Ford and Kenney sat on their hands as long as possible - and Ford did as little as he could - sending "man hours" rather than "men", and deliberately refusing to engage.

Sloly was the wrong person in place at the time, but there are political actors whose actions did him in as well.
