You go, Chris!

When Christopher Hitchens is sober, he is truly something to behold.

Wow.

The Roman Catholic Church is headed by a mediocre Bavarian bureaucrat once tasked with the concealment of the foulest iniquity, whose ineptitude in that job now shows him to us as a man personally and professionally responsible for enabling a filthy wave of crime. Ratzinger himself may be banal, but his whole career has the stench of evil.

The banality of evil. Now just where have we heard that before?

I thought "Pope Nazinger" was only giggle-worthy at best when he became Benedict the XVI. Little did I know how true it would end up becoming.

So how do you maintain the primacy of the spiritual sword over the temporal sword if the faithful start to believe the priests are worse than the politicians (who usually sin with consenting adult women)?

Another thing. For a good 25 years the Vatican has been saying that concern over alleged clerical abuse of little boys is an idiosyncrasy of English speaking countries.

Either this is a problem that began only in the last part of the 20th century

As a francophone Catholic, we always assumed the clerics were getting it on with each other. No real harm, nor foul, in other words.

The entire hierarchy is corrupt and needs to be bankrupted.

Phff. What's the flakey closet case saying that hasn't been said a hundred times over. And talk about a broad target. Good grief. Get a job, asshole.
