You keep abusing that word "progressive" ...

Blogging Tory Eric "Diogenes Borealis" is out to reclaim what was done took from him:

I find it annoying that the political left has appropriated the word "progressive".

Eric has a good point, since it would make much more sense to return that word to Eric and his ideological fellow travellers -- you know, the folks who reject biological evolution and other large swaths of modern science, oppose same-sex marriage, think women are second-class citizens whose baby-making parts should be controlled by the state, have an inordinate dislike for dark people and immigrants and, in large part, uncritically worship a large, invisible sky fairy who is said to grant their deepest desires if only they ask for it politely enough. Sure, Eric, why not? Nothing grotesquely bizarre about that suggestion.

And here's the money quote:

Commenting in the National Post, Kelly McParland had this to say about the mayor's progressivism:

One of the most frustrating things about dealing with left-wingers is their imperviousness to reality.

Ah, Kelly McParland ... that would be the sub-genius who runs the National Post's "Full Comment" feature and has published such intellectual powerhouses as Stephen Taylor, Steve Janke and Adrian "Raphael Alexander" MacNair, and is now looking down his nose at people who allegedly have a tough time with reality. Go figure.

The implosion of the Post can't come soon enough for me. One only hopes no women or children are injured in the blast.

I'm fine with the title that George Bush's aide gave to the left: the reality-based community.
