I really have a hard time figuring out just how some people come to the conclusion that being rich is purely a matter of merit (what this Conserva-knob describes as those who produce). Being merely affluent or upper middle class quite often is (but even then, luck and circumstance have a lot do with it), but that's not who "the rich" really are. To me, they're all mostly people like Conrad Black. They get rich by destroying, not creating.
It would seem "those who produce" need to be rewarded or they won't "produce". Where's the problem? Sounds like any union demanding more money or else they'll go Galt, I mean go on strike. Why does he believe appeasement of the rich is required, and why does he believe it will work?
