Yeah, about that "free speech" thingy ...

Apparently, your right to free expression ends where the Catholic Church's right to be a bunch of uptight, intolerant, self-absorbed, sanctimonious fuckwits begins.

Not to sound like I'm really exercised about this (the iconoclast in me is just luvin' it), but Bill Donohue's Catholic League isn't an official organ of the Catholic Church.

Anyway, I'm loving the drama...

In all fairness, were someone to crap on a Koran, what would the response be? Catholics do view that little cracker as the "body of Christ".

Remembering, when reading the above, that I left that church a long time ago, and not very fond of most of their teachings...

Attacking the most "holy" of symbols is only going to entrench current beliefs, and do nothing to bring enlightenment.

Just saying.

Whoa. Deja Vu. Wonder if he was writing any of those posts from work.

(Alpha Male. What d'you think happens to those crackers in the end anyway? They go into soup!)

I think the issue here is the escalation of conflict, and one side's got to stop.

By the way, most Catholics don't actually believe the wafer is the body of Christ. Of course, saying that makes you a bad Catholic, so devout Catholics won't admit it. But it is the truth and every Catholic knows it.

It's a devotional ritual; plain and simple.

Anyway, it's the escalation here that's the issue, and it seems to me that the Catholic hardliners have to back down, or they'll end up looking like fascists...again.

Ahh jeepers, Ti-Guy, sit down...

You ready for this?

I agree with you.

Why should I be surprised you agree with me? You're not a troglodyte. We established that a while ago.

The problem here again is not principle, but conflict. And once again, that pig Bill Donohue is making things worse.

He should be censured by the Catholic Church. Burned at the stake, even.

...yes, the Pope can still order that done, if need be.

Both sides seem to have a few unresolved anger issues.

It's fine as long as both your sides are in agreement. It's only when you argue with yourself that you are certifiable.
