One of these things is just like the other ...

Sure, that's kind of tacky:

A white supremacist group in Calgary is recruiting new members with an offer to pay the security deposit on a new rental apartment if they move to the city.

A member of the Aryan Guard made the offer in an online posting at stormfront.org entitled "White Nationlist Relocation Program - Destination Calgary." ...

Calgary mayor Dave Bronconnier told reporters that the offer is "distasteful."

"It's quite surprising that people would have to resort to using financial support in order to encourage people to join their group," Bronconnier said. "I think that speaks to the support level that's here, which is non-existent."

In unrelated news:

N.S.-Ottawa reach deal in offshore dispute, province gets about $870 million

Nova Scotia will receive about $870 million from Ottawa as part of a deal resolving the so-called Crown share dispute, putting to rest a long-standing financial disagreement and solving a political problem for both the provincial and federal governments...

Diana Whalen, a Liberal member of the Nova Scotia legislature, said the settlement also serves a political purpose for the federal Conservatives in the region.

"It's the Harper government trying to do damage control because they completely messed up the Atlantic Accord," Whalen said.

Huh ... one man's bribe is another man's ... oh, hell, it's still a bribe, isn't it?

But it's different when the Conservatives do it...

It just is.

Do you have to sign a contract to remain a member for any specified period? How many new members would it take to stage a hostile takeover? Is the offer open to non-whites or are they discriminating in housing on the basis of race? How do you define "non-white?"

I think this offer offers some interesting possibilities.

Man, your new landlord would love to get that check, wouldn't they. Or do they just hand you cash and let you write your own check?

Does Dick Evans put prospective members up on his couch while they look for a new place?

Bit of a stretch, don't you think?
