I'm guessing that being li'l guard duck's hostage would not involve humiliation, degradation and abuse, though. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone except perhaps Ann Coulter and even then, I suspect it wouldn't take long for Twatsy to be the one chained to the heavy kitchen appliance.
Oooh, I complain about a sexist joke and suddenly I'm a pearl-clutching screech harpy?
Listen, I'll type slowly: I'm a faithful reader of this blog, and rather enjoy baiting the hell out of the assholes behind the links. Try REALLY HARD NOW, and figure out that jokes where women are restrained and made hostages because the guy is too creepy to get laid on his own, just aren't fucking funny. Not to me, not to most women.
And by the way, I was the one telling Frank all about how I *love* dick (see his post about how women hate cigarettes because they're a symbol of "male penises" and a therefore male violence). So I'm hardly one of Those Women who can't handle off-colour jokes. I just refuse to let jokes about violence against women fly without being called for what they are - misogynist garbage.
"I complain about a sexist joke and suddenly I'm a pearl-clutching screech harpy?"
ooh, "screech harpy" is a nice touch.
"I'll type slowly"
do you have any other option?
now you try real hard: the joke is not about women, it's about certain men and their catastrophic inneptitude at personal relationships. the joke does not endorse misogynistic behavior; quite the opposite, as our aquatic friend makes clear in the last panel. save your indignation for the real thing.
now, get yer ass back in that kitchen and make me a turkey pot pie....
Clearly, you will never get it. However, I will continue to try.
I do see your point. I just disagree. You say: "the joke does not endorse misogynistic behavior" but what CC said was, "If I were you, Patsy, I'd go with the "hostage" option. I'm guessing your odds would be better."
Seems to me that's a joke, and no, I don't think he's really saying that the loser ought to chain up a hostage, but it's NOT FUNNY. Letting violence against women be a joke is a good way of making it less serious than it is. A good way of minimizing the damage. And some of us just won't take it.
I'm not saying CC is a sexist, or that he's misogynistic (nor am I saying that about you, btw), just that some of the things you say really aren't helping. You claim to be progressive, but I don't see it when I see such sexist commentary.

i think twatsie's love life would more resemble lenny small with a puppy.

Are you just baiting him now?
Must be a slow news day.
Are you just baiting him now?
Can't speak to any particular motivation, RT, but CC seems to be implying that Patsy has friends.
I'll have to think about that one for a while...
(three second pause)
...Okay, all done thinking. Carry on.
Yeah, you know? Jokes about taking women hostage? Not funny.
Neither is Twatsy.
Don't worry...the only thing Twatterick's ever held hostage is a tubesock.
"Jokes about taking women hostage? Not funny."
not when the endorsement is genuine, no. otherwise, hi-fucking-larious.
quite the death grip you've got on your pearls there....

"Jokes about taking women hostage?"
Women? Who mentioned women?
does a ewe qualify as "woman"?
KEvron
Ewe Who?
