When I said I supported the free market, I didn't mean ALL the time.
Apparently, that whole "free market, let the consumer decide, supply and demand, unfettered competition" notion doesn't really work all that well if there's no real, you know, competition. Who knew, eh?

I think the overlords at the iPhone Corporation are laughing all the way to the bank. They created all the hype, and now they are reaping free publicity EVERYWHERE! The people that want this stupid little phone will pay for it. This is cabbage patch dolls for grown-ups. I say let them pay. (...and if I never heard about this again, I could be happy...)
Cell phone carriers, cable companies (usually the same people), and big oil. All stealing from us on a regular basis, and using our laws of the land to legalize it. The CRTC is the biggest criminal organisation in Canada in my humble opinion.
An example of a part of big government that could be cut out altogeather and improve our lives here.

As an aside, when I got back from Afghanistan, I asked at Rogers, "Why was it cheaper for me to run a cell phone in Afghanistan, calling back to Canada up to 5 times a week, sometimes for up to a half hour, then it is for me to run my cell phone here in Canada for maybe 5 times a week all less then 5 mins?" They would not answer the question.
I managed that account, and no, not for personal use, so I was not concerned about the cost (which was on average 30CAD a week or 120CAD a month, in a war zone making multiple long distance phone calls per week).
Yeah, rates are higher here than in the US and world. Isn't there legislation pending that will prohibit gouging like 'system access fees' and 3 yr. contract option limitations?
What a rip...
Canada Worse than 3rd World Countries when it comes to Mobile Data Access
