Man, I can hardly wait for the next priest to step up to the plate.
Well, Cardinal Carter died already, so I guess he's out.
CBC National has been playing it over and over that the padre returned his order and then in panel two of the story, very civilly pointing out the martyr's legal past with children.
They also noted the 'official' petition started by the usual rightwing suspects (CFAC? family action committee?) to get Morgentaler's order revoked on the grounds he's a convicted criminal...won't go anywhere when others who committed 'crimes' pre 1996 were allowed to keep their orders, as stated by the GG's office.
But hey, it's nice to know Morgentaler's award is culling the unworthy from the ranks of the Order.
You really have to look at this from Father Larre's point of view. As a Catholic priest it never occurred to him that child abuse could possibly EVER be considered wrong. GOD! What a disgusting institution.
Morgentaler was never convicted by a jury. He was convicted by a court overturning a jury verdict - thus exposing a shocking lack of protection of rights in Canadian law. Morgentaler was given the honour BECAUSE of his legal struggles, not in spite of them, and certainly not with the committee being unaware of them.
If they ever decide to award Lord Tubby an award for fraud, I'll be the first to argue he should get to keep it!
More evidence that the fetus fetishists don't give a damn about already born children - complete outrage that Morgantaler, who worked to ensure that only wanted children are born, get's the OoC and complete silence, even support for Fr. Larre who has been convicted of physically assaulting the children under his care.
So, abortion bad but beating the hell out of them once they are out is just fine.
