Blogging Tory Raphael Alexander makes a good point:
Tories Can't Please Quebec, But They Could Try B.C.
Good thinking, Raph, so how could Stephen Harper and his Harperettes start the process of shamelessly screwing over the rest of the country with nonsensical and economically indefensible decisions in order to suck up to B.C.?
Oh.
It doesn't get much more timely than that, does it?
AFTERSNARK: Strictly for the entertainment value, we should check on how many of Canada's fiscally frugal guardians of the public purse Blogging Tories also are a bit put off by this curious expenditure of the taxpayer's cash, or whether they will (as they usually do) fall obediently into line behind Uncle Steve.
Let's watch.

Just a thought, and I don't know if this is the case, but is it possible that these subs will actually be deployed in the Pacific and new subs acquired for the Atlantic? I'm not sure what's on the books in the Con's new "Canada First" defense plan.
I think Dave @ TGB has read the entire doc, Red - he could probably answer that question quite handily.
I got my hands on a copy of it last week but haven't gotten around to actually reading it in any depth.
