With friends like that ...

Oh, my -- this is just precious. Regarding the Great Canadian Debate (more about which later), we have Olaf keeping us up to speed:

So, the first debate in the Great Canadian Debate is up. In it, Chris and Dirk argue whether or not Canada should adopt the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Um ... huh? I could have sworn ...

Hello all. Sorry, I've been derelict in my posting duties here, as a result of the Great Canadian Debate experiment, which, despite how little we have to show for it so far, has been surprisingly labour intensive. Anyways, things are moving along, however slowly, and here's an update for all you paying attention...

The first round

The "First Round" of Debates, which we hope to start posting next week, are here in no particular order:

Must a person be in favour of the Afghan war in order to "support our troops"?

Red Tory - NO; Richard Evans - YES

Well, OK, he did say "in no particular order" but, apparently, Red Tory finally ran out of patience as Dick Evans simply couldn't get his shit together.

But what's particularly amusing is that Richard Evans was invited to participate in the first place, given that one of the debate's organizers is one "Paladiea," who Dick lists on the front page of his own blog as a member of what he terms "The Looney Bin".

How to win friends and influence people, Dick Evans-style. You can't make this stuff up.

CC, I think you should host the Great Canadian Retard Debate experiment. First question:
"Must a person be in favour of the Afghan war in order to 'support our troops'? Furthermore, must said person get their fat chickenhawk ass off their mom's basement sofa and down to the closest Canadian Forces recruiting centre?"

They've had my submission for a little while now CC... You'll just have to be a little more patient...

Actually, not so much. The thesis was put together on one of those computer "thingies" and there were no crayons involved.

Although intimately involved in its conception, organization and administration, I missed the section of the Great Canadian Debate Rulebook where it mandates that all 50+ bloggers involved in the project are supposed to be "friends".

If you could send me a page number or at least the chapter you're referring to, I'll take a look and refer it to our conflict tribunal. In the meantime, I think we're all just going to act like adults, if it's alright with you. Thanks again for taking such an interest.
