Your lemon-scented dumbassitude, Tuesday edition.

The inimitable Mr. Lemon reports on how us progressives really wish more people had been killed:

Despite wishes and hopes of Global Warming denial deniers, it appears that Hurricane Dean will turn out to be a tempest in the Caribbean teapot.

Narrowly missing Jamaica, although three deaths resulted (many fewer than are usually murdered in drug deals gone bad in Montego Bay during the same time period), it appears that the hurricane also has missed the Caymans. The denial deniers, however, are still hoping that Dean will do the lambada in Cancun.

Yes, personally, it saddens me greatly that Hurricane Dean turned out to be such a complete dud, as described in the very Toronto Star article to which Brian links (emphasis added):

Mexico braces for Dean

TULUM, Mexico – Tens of thousands of tourists fled the beaches of the Mayan Riviera today as monstrous hurricane Dean roared toward the ancient ruins and modern oil installations of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Mexico's state oil company, Petroleos de Mexico, said it was evacuating all of its more than 14,000 offshore workers in the southern Gulf of Mexico, which includes the giant Cantarell oil field...

Dean already had winds of 241 kilometres an hour as it brushed past the Cayman Islands on Monday and the U.S. National Hurricane Center upgraded it to a giant Category 5 hurricane in the evening.

At 8 p.m. EDT, Dean was centred 338 kilometres east of Chetumal, on the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, near the border with Belize, where authorities closed all hospitals and urged residents to leave.

The storm – which killed at least 10 people across the Caribbean – was expected to slash across the Yucatan and emerge in the Gulf of Campeche, where Petroleos de Mexico decided Monday to shut down production on the offshore rigs that extract most of the nation's oil.

Whoa, maybe we progressives are still in luck after all. Let's keep our fingers crossed since, as Brian points out:

Global Warming Denial Deniers are still hoping that hurricanes this year will kill at least 2,000 people and cause more than $5 Billion in damage during this tropical storm season.

Darn right, since nothing would make me happier than 2,000 dead people. Apparently, it's a progressive thing. Just ask Brian.

Ummm... there really isn't much to say about that, is there?

But then, I guess Brian knows WHY Dean went to Cat 5 before Aug 21 this early in the season.

He might even know why it took the route it did.

Magic! A TRS is magic! It's a good thing the weather reporter does birthday announcements on his favourite TV station.

How primitive. I'm amazed that our society produces people like Brian Lemon. It's not the deaths that are going to be plaguing Jamaica; it's the beating the infrastructure (which is very inadequate at the best of times) took which is going to add extra hardship to people who already have life rough as it is. And those aren't the drug dealers of Montego Bay that the addled (from what exaclty?) Brian Lemon seems to know intimately.

What a failed human being Brian Lemon is.

Got to agree wholeheartedly with Ti-Guy here, Lemons totally misses the point about the devastation to infrastructure and the corresponding difficulties that will create long after the storm has passed. All I have to do to think about how that could be is remember Juan in Halifax a few years back and the level of disruption it caused here for many days, and we live in a far more developed/hardened infrastructure region that also has a far better infrastructure and resources to clean up and repair available, and it took months. In less developed areas this sort of devastation is just as potentially life threatening as the storm on top of the problems T-G points out.

A normal rainstorm in most of the Caribbean washes roads out, strands people, disrupts water and electricity supplies and makes life harder than it has to be.

I'm baffled by how Lemon has to go out of his way to find people he can denigrate. Doesn't he have enough kittens to strangle, or has MaryT used them all up?

What a head-case. Next time a disaster strikes whatever dreary little burg Brian Lemon inhabits, he better hope he gets more consideration than he's shown here. I'd have commented over at this blog, but he deletes everything he doesn't like.

Global Warming Denial Deniers

So... now liberals are evil because they deny that global warming deniers exist?

What the hell kinda three stooges double talk bullshit is this?

"So... now liberals are evil because they deny that global warming deniers exist?"

He said "denial deniers", not "denier deniers".

But your way is funnier.

That pretty much says it. The more extreme the weather -- hot or cold, dry or wet -- and the greater the suffering caused by it, the happier the Climate Changers (nee Global Warmers) are. They so love to prance, preen, and pose.

Praise Gaia.

So he's suggesting that global warming denial doesn't exist.

There may be some projection involved on Brian's part here.

Perhaps the problem is this: he's hoping for a grisly terrorist attack on Canadian soil which in his mind would put lefties in their place, and is frustrated by its continued failure to materialize.

And now this.

So, Nonny. In your expert opinion, explain the variables that came together to form Hurricane Dean. Perhaps you can inform us all as to why it took the route it did... one which was pretty accurately forecast, the likes of which preserved life.
You might also explain why Dean went to Cat 4 so fast, and what causes a hurricane to strengthen like that, particularly one which developed a core which should have weakened it.

Or do you prefer to remain a fucking cartoon?

Dave said, "Nonny. In your expert opinion, explain the variables that came together to form Hurricane Dean. Perhaps you can inform us all as to why it took the route it did ..." etc., etc, ad nauseum.

Uhh ... climate change?

Do I win, Dave?

Praise Gaia.

Nonny said...

Sorry, Dave. I shouldn't have been so quick to say regarding your weather questions, "Ad nauseum." My apologies.

I should have said, "Ad nauseam."

Again. A thousand pardons.

Making spelling mistakes that are common among those who are pretending to be educated or sophisticated is something you're quite sensitive about, aren't ya nonny?

How very provincial.

Nonny said...

I'd say "common," chief skin-like-paper.

Dave said...

Uhh ... climate change?

That's about what I expected. You're happier as a cartoon.

Nonny said...

Global warming?

Ti-Guy said...

That's about what I expected. You're happier as a cartoon.

Well, it's not like nonny has any choice about that. Look at who his role models are.

Just let it go, folks. I'm giving Nonny the old heave-ho at this point because, quite simply, he's boring. And all he's doing is jerking off in my comments section.

He can go do the same thing at home.
