"In conclusion, how drastically will this affect the economy, the weather or whatever else you think it might affect? Only time will tell. Back to you, Sheila."
So THAT's where the idiots that revamped CBC News got all their ideas!
Not that the changes didn't have positive effects...I (and many of my friends who were also addicted to the National)finally realized that television news was a poor man's source, and started blogging.
I loved "I hate these inane soundbites. I don't want some punter's opinion, usually."
Amen to that. I'm going start a crusade against "user-generated content" hosted by the mainstream media. By uploading a video to CBC's "Have Your Say!"
I really do believe a massive "tune out" is required to clear the decks of all the Masters-of-Whatever-Administration boobs who continue to shove administrative orthodoxy and mere technique down our throats at the expense of real skill and just plain common sense.
Jon Stewart does a good job of lampooning all of that when he comments on the news network's lavish use of animated graphics and journalism based on reporting Tweets.
not to worry CC, your version is even a different version of the same vid -- as you say, great minds etc. etc. It was an observation, not an accusation.
Somewhere, there is a generic blog post template that does the same thing that video does for (to?)television news.
Charlie's required viewing over here - and for those who may not know, he writes a daily piece for The Guardian newspaper. And if you can, try and catch his BBC 4 show, 'Screenwipe', from where the above clip is lifted.

Haven't watched a television "news" show since.

Excellent choice. Everyone should have abandoned teevee news at least a decade ago, but better late than never.

Sorry, Rev, I learned about that video thru a private e-mailer. Great minds think alike, etc, etc.
