And now, it's Huether time.

Upstairs at the Huether, working on my first Honey Brown, laptopping away and waiting for a decent college basketball game. If you spot me, you can buy the next one.

AFTERSNARK: Since I had only my crappy cell phone with built-in camera with me, feel free to send me pics of the K-W rally and I will ... yes, ma'am, another Honey Brown will be fine. And now that there's two of us, the large pulled pork pizza sounds divine. If you show up while there's still pizza, you're welcome to some of it.

DOUBLE SNARK: I'm currently sucking back beer with this guy.

Did you notice the guy holding the Harper/Hitler placard?

Did you notice the Harperjugend in the bank who was heckling the speakers?

Yes, the "Stephen Hitler" guy was a total dink. He walked behind me at one point, and I was painfully tempted to smite him sorely.

So half the rally made it back to the Huether?

Stephen Harper, great strategic thinker that he is, handed Canadians something simple to rally around. He actually got Ottawans to head up to Parliament Hill on a Saturday. I bet he regrets that miscall about Parliament not mattering to Canadians.

By the way, there is no such thing as pulled pork pizza.

I have some photos here.

Dear Mr. Bow,

Having not been there, and not being an expert on crowds etc, I'm struck by how your pictures seem to show more than four people. Could you please help me understand the discrepancy between your (obviously biased) reality and boconuts Facts™?

I'm confused.

Respectfully,

Cameron

Dunno. What does Bocanut have to say? Was he late, or early?

James Bow said...

Or maybe he was attending the alternate protest of 22 individuals at King and William? I think it was an anti-abortion protest.

Cameron Campbell said...

He was snarky and dismissive.

I suggest you sit down for this news, but you are part of the elite.

James Bow said...

Cool! I like being part of the elite! I can't think what Bocanut has against standing alongside the founder of RIM, Canada's troops or Canada's Olympians.

Cameron Campbell said...

Well written James... it's part of the attack on intelligence...

Once you get people convinced that smart people are bad then everyone tries to be dumb and then they are easier to control.

bocanut said...

300 showed up?
Wow.
Maybe they ran out of free perogies and the other thousands went home?
Who's "Braid"?

James Bow said...

Well, I always try to keep my numbers conservative, but this post suggests that the number may have been higher. I did notice a fair number of people cycling in and out of the event throughout my time there. Waterloo Public Square is on the small side, and that limits how many people can show up. If you had a decent turnover during the two hours there, that will bulk up total attendance.

Pulled pork pizza? I'm moving to Kitchener.

BTW, handful of (bad) Ottawa pictures at my place if you don't mind me schilling in your combox CC. 3,000-4,000 people on the Hill... or 2-3 for bocanut.

James Bow said...

Bocanut:

"Who's 'Braid'?"

Well, that would be Peter Braid, the Conservative MP for Kitchener-Waterloo. The sign's spelt right, at least.

Cameron Campbell said...

James asked of boconuts "Was he late, or early?" I believe the answer is C) he's a disingenuous ass

It's kind of fun watching the New Conservatives stick to their clued-out talking points as if Canadians have the same contempt for their Parliament that Stephen Harper does. It's extra funny knowing that Harper won't be able to bring himself to do the climb down that even he knows is the politically smart thing to do at this point.

Delicious.

I'm curious, bocanut ... what was your point in writing, "So half the rally made it back to the Huether?"

Seriously, what were you trying to get across? Was that your attempt at humour? Wit? Satire? Sarcasm?

Were you suggesting that only 4 people attended the K-W rally? Really? On what do you base that? The last time I looked, you lived in Calgary. So unless you happened to be in the vicinity, it's not clear how you'd know how well-attended the K-W rally was.

Or, as I suspect, was that your lameass attempt at childish denigration of hundreds of people who showed up to support democracy?

Really, boca, I'm sincerely curious -- what was your point in making a comment so appallingly inaccurate, childish and insulting? In what way did it contribute to the discussion here? How did it educate anyone?

Seriously, I'm curious. Feel free to enlighten us.
