Sunday Funnies.

With some serious 99 booty-shaking. Here’s a trivia question – what kind of car did Maxwell Smart drive?

If I'm not mistaken I think it was a Sunbeam Tiger.

Too cool - people usually say it's an MG.

In the later shows they changed to a Karman Ghia, apparently due to sponsor complaints.

I was going to guess an Opel or Triumph or Ghia.

99 rocks.

I've only just thought of this. Maybe Gretzky was actually a fan of hers, and not so much of Gordie Howe.

Ha. I was just watching some "Get Smart" clips the other day. Did you know there's a movie re-make out this June with Steve Carell in the lead role? I bet it will suck.

Yeah, kind of a trick question (you asked me not to tell you that!) but most associated with the 1965 Sunbeam Tiger (red). And loving it!

But, would you believe, in seasons 3 and 4 Max drives a blue Karman Ghia in the opening credits but drives the Sunbeam in the episodes. Season 5 , the last season, he drives a gold Opel GT.

Ok, who played 'The Groovy Guru'?

I also do Hawaii 5-0 trivia, brudda. What was Steve McGarret's middle name? and Chin Ho's family name?

Chin Ho's family name was Kelly, The Groovy Guru was played by Larry Storch, and I admit I'm stumped on Steve McGarret's middle name. Here's one for you brudda, what kind of car did McGarret drive on the show?

When I come out to Lotusland in August, Frank, we can try and stump each other live and in person.

Aloysius. Mr. 5-0's middle name was Aloysius. Admittedly a bit of a trick question. Throughout the series his name, according to his government records, is Stephen J. McGarrett. Never revealed what the 'J' represented. Maybe it's like the 'S' in Harry S. Truman. But in a couple of episodes he confides to his date that it's Aloysius and that it's a 'secret'.

Car #1 was a '68 Mercury Parklane, Car #2 was '74 Mercury Marquis. Both had the same licence plate number - F6-3958. ;-)

Hmmmm.. brought to mind a curious 5-0 trivia fact.

Wo Fat, McGarrett's nemesis, was played by veteran character actor Khigh Dhiegh. Although Mr. Dhiegh had a long TV and film career comprised of portraying characters of various Asian nationalities (among other roles he was also Dr. Lo in The Manchurian Candidate), and was the author of numerous books on Taoist philosophy, he was not of Asian ancestry at all.

Born Kenneth Dickerson in New Jersey, and of Anglo-Egyptian-Sudanese ancestry.

Well, Mr. Frink, I happily concede to your superior 5-0 trivia.

Now ... tell me what's unique about marascino cherries ;-)

Ok, now I'm stumped. They're dyed? Preserved in alcohol? Have the pits removed? Were banned during the Prohibition era?

They never rot ... how gross is that?

That explains fruitcake.
