I'd like to thank the Academy ...

One at a time, my pretties ... little by little:

I'm sure Patsy's omission from that list was just an unfortunate oversight. Yeah, let's go with that.

You'll do better on that ranking if you concentrate on more visible targets and imply (or flat out state) outrageous things about them. Of course, that's what sensible people have a hard time doing without wielding complex satire (which takes a lot of time).

Still, for your niche audience, you guys are doing rather well. Congrats!

The righties are only doing well because of their link whoring and their millions of American rightwing fans. You'll notice that for the millions of American liberals, Canada and Canadian issues are never are their radars.

Canada-hating does well in the US: there are only two Canadian issues that attract the attention of American liberals: restrictions on freedom of expression and the seal hunt.

Thank you for the sweeping generalization, Ti.

Congrats, I think.
What do these numbers mean?

You will notice that I respectfully have kept my own counsel about the freedom of expression business.

No, I don't think it is narrow interests keeping American liberals away.

Instead, I think it is simply that American liberals think we are not complete retards here, so they don't need to constantly watch us to make sure we are not plotting the overthrow of the current Paranoia Regime.

Unlike the American fright wingers, who see us like some sort of frontier, where their version of frontier justice and frontier exploitation have a chance to finally breathe the sweet air of freedom so long denied in the lower 48. Something like that. They saw how a small shrieking cabal managed to capture the US government for 8 years, and support the same here in any way they can.

Only problem is our archaic voting system. Without Diebold enabling, our fight wingers can only manage a minority. Perhaps if they can buy all our rocket science and take it back where it belongs, we will take voting machines as trade so we can "modernize".

Actually, I, for one, do need to constantly watch you to see if you've got the conjones to plot the overthrow of the current Paranoia Regieme

But that's just me.

We shouldn’t feel bad about being largely ignored by our friends south of the border. Unless there’s some sort of chaotic “news-worthy” violence going on, Americans don’t much attention to any other country in the world and even then it’s usually pretty fleeting and superficial. Funnily enough, the few times we do appear on their political radar it’s usually because Michael Moore has held us up as some sort of role model, or at least an instructive counterpoint (gun control, healthcare) to the American way of doing things.

My US/Canadian traffic is pretty well evenly split e in md.

~ 36% Canadian
~ 33% American

The Brits come in at ~ 10% and a regular old mash up of everybody else makes up the rest.

Hey, hey, hey! By linking to SMD and F^3 all the time it gives them PR which is not being returned (unless they are linking to you).

Oh, wait, what Ti-guy said :-)

That's not entirely true. I spend about a week a month in New York and Dallas and liberal minded Americans who learn that I am Canadian, consistently laud Canada for being liberal and will cite things like the single payer healthcare system, stricter gun laws, staying out of Iraq, gay marriage and defacto decriminalization of pot and prostitution as examples.

They don't know any details about these things (like that pot possession and street prostitution aren't really legal) but tend to use them to show that a country can implement their agenda and remain a peaceful prosperous place.

Traitors!

It's not a negative comment to state the simple fact that American liberals are parochial; everyone is.

What bugs me most about American liberals is that issues of foreign policy and action are too often debated as if those issues are significant because they're supposed to say something about themselves: "Does the Iraq War make me look fat?"

American rightwingers should be interned, so the less said about them, the better.
