Okay CC ... I’ll see your really bad Go West video — world’s worst dancer even by 80’s standards in a wife-beater making goofy sex faces — and raise you The Cure.
Your turn. Favourite 80’s band in the comments if you please.
Impossible to pick a fave. The Clash, Magazine, Art of Noise, Peter Gabriel, Devo, Talking Heads, XTC, Ultravox and Public Image (PIL) would all be at the top of that list.
To which I would add the 'Two-Tone' bands: Madness (already listed above), the Beat, The Selecter, plus The Replacements, The Cramps, early R.E.M., 'X', Violent Femmes, and The Blasters.
I also liked some of the 'smartass' bands and their smartass songs like these guys, and these guys.

Split Enz
Psychedelic Furs
Kajagoogoo
Madness
Oh, and for sentimental CanCon - Cats Can Fly
Madness - I had such a crush on Suggs when I was about 14.
This guy is really good...
Oh, if you clicked on that link, you've been RICKROLLED!! lol
Oh, if you were wondering what a rickroll was...
I like Red Tory's list.
I mean, I really like Red Tory's list.

And, just for something different, not a rickroll.
Personally, back in the 80's I was fascinated by The Spooons. although I was never fond of "Nova Heart". "Romantic Traffic" was awesome, though.
dire straits
U2
guns & roses
(and RT's list)
Otherwise the 80's were a dreary musical desert (IMO).
