Oh ... so THAT'S how capitalism works.
Five Feet of Got a Quarter? Kathy Shaidle goes begging for sponsors, at which point -- in a demonstration of amusing irony -- progressive blogger Dr. Dawg throws a few bucks in the tip jar:
at which point, Kathy Shaidle shows her undying gratitude for someone willing to shell out some cash to alleviate her poverty:
I have to admit, this is a definition of "customer appreciation" with which I am unfamiliar.

And you might note that she is now screening her benefactors.
Is she collecting welfare or employment insurance? Shouldn't that money be deducted? tsk tsk!
the rev has a very good point. while kathy is fighting for freedom in the 'here and now', (the where and how?) she is surely declaring any moneys generated from her begging...er, blogging, against the benefits she receives from the social safety net. right? any case workers in the house?
I'm sure Ms Shaidle is directing the revenue to repaying all the grants and subsidies she has received in her lifetime, particularly during her period of sub-culture indolence and alcoholism.
Dr. D:
I have no problem with Kathy being selective about whose charity she accepts -- if I was selling link space, I would be equally picky.
However, once she does accept someone's cash, it behooves her to not denigrate those people in public. That's just a matter of class.
Of course, that's just my opinion.
I'm sorry - would it be impolite for me to ask why anyone would want to "get in" Five Feet of Spare Some Change™'s "top spots"? That's just rude.
I'm sure a close reading of her site would reveal whether she is receiving some sort of social assistance. However such a close reading will have to be done by someone with much more forbearance than myself.
That's just a matter of class.
And that would be the problem right there.
Lurved her little (pun intended) (ok, we'll go with petty) rant about her 'sixfeetofcalm' TopSite link.
