There's reality, and there's batshit crazy.

First, the reality (all emphasis tail-waggingly added):

Strapped Forces recruiting retirees

OTTAWA - The Canadian Forces has asked former soldiers to rejoin the ranks as it tries to recruit enough soldiers for the future and deal with the fallout from the mission to Afghanistan.

Letters were sent at the end of March by Lt.-Gen. Walter Natynczyk to non-commissioned officers, captains and majors, saying their services are needed to shore up the army...

A retired officer who received one of the letters said he was told the Afghan war is overstretching the army and that experienced personnel are desperately needed both to train new recruits at home and to fill vacancies left by the soldiers who are in Afghanistan.

Then there's the pathological, batshit fucking craziness of Canada's Lowest Common Denominatrix™:

Yet They Join

With the endless clamor coming from the anti-Afghanistan faction, coupled with the Harper government’s no-show in explaining “the mission”, it’s amazing that young people are still lining up to join the Canadian Forces … especially the army, which is enduring the brunt of casualties. Yet they join.

You might as well assume that absolutely everything Kate McMillan writes is a bald-faced lie. It's just easier that way.

BONUS KATE MCMILLAN TOWEL SNAP: It's probably worth pointing out that Ms. McMillan never met a recruiting-related bit of right-wing propaganda she couldn't wait to go down on:

Defying The Propoganda [sic]

Ralph Peters, in the NY Post (behind a registration wall) ;

Every one of the Army's 10 divisions its key combat organizations has exceeded its re-enlistment goal for the year to date. Those with the most intense experience in Iraq have the best rates. The 1st Cavalry Division is at 136 percent of its target, the 3rd Infantry Division at 117 percent.

What about first-time enlistment rates, since that was the issue last spring? The Army is running at 108 percent of its needs. Guess not every young American despises his or her country and our president.

The Army Reserve is a tougher sell, given that it takes men and women away from their families and careers on short notice. Well, Reserve recruitment stands at 102 percent of requirements.

And then there's the Army National Guard. We've been told for two years that the Guard was in free-fall. Really?

Guard recruitment and retention comes out to 106 percent of its requirements as of June 30.

Those of you with long memories might remember how well that turned out.

In his last days, down in the bunker, Hitler would look at his maps and order non-existent regiments to meet the Soviet and Western Allies.

Occasionally the SS would round up enough young boys and old men to form a regiment at nominal full strength.

Sometimes Hitler would come out and give the little tykes medals before sending them out to be slaughtered.

I suspect KKKate would have approved of his steadfastness and determination.

Why hasn't KKKate signed up yet? She likes killing things, after all.

Back in July, the Globe and Mail reported that recruiting numbers were up forty percent so far this year. But that's probably a bit inconvenient for a "reality based" guy like you to mention. I mean, why fuck up a good rant, one that your monkeys won't check up on?

Fuck you, asshole. If you provided a link, I might take you seriously. 40%?

Try here. Like a good monkey.
