Yeah ... six more dead soldiers ... whatever.
Six dead Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. On the one hand, I could be grief-stricken. On the other hand, maybe I'll just chill out and take it in stride like this guy.
Yeah, that second option sounds better. If it's good enough for a Blogging Tory, it's good enough for me.

Yep, blogging Harperites are so much braver than the rest of us. How do they do it?
They're so damn supportive of the troops that this stuff just rolls right off their backs.
What short memories you have.
Ten months ago, The Canadian Commander Guy explained that "the deaths of Canadian soldiers were a boost for the military--cathartic after years of not being able to kill or die like real soldiers. 'I can tell you it's certainly engaged our military. It's, I think, made them a better military, notwithstanding--and maybe in some way because of--the casualties.'" Thanks, Seer. I was actually looking for a reference to that about a week ago.
What short memories you have.
All the rightwing clap-trap I've heard over the years is all there, in the dusty corners and mildewing vegetable crispers of my mind. I just don't have the ability to recall things that make no sense to me. Never have. It's my greatest failing.
well I'm fucking pissed. Six more CNDS dead, and hey, anyone even know the civilian death count over there? And when we try to talk reason, ask people to actually question if there is some better way we can help the "poor Afghans" - not that I for a moment believe the CPC government gives a shit about them - we are called cowards.
I hardly see how it is brave to send other people's sons and daughters to a foreign country to kill and die for reasons thinly explained and as chan geable as those put forth by the New Orwellian government.
Yes, I'm pissed, because I do give a damn about our troops, about Afghans, about my country, for Chrissake! This is not a goddamn Risk game here! It is not a case of cutting and running, if we pull out.
Peacekeeping missions - as begun by Pearson - have a valuable place in resolving conflict. Historically, that is what Canada has done, and we have been valued for it internationally. Kicking ass can also be done with a softer had. Yes, you damn blood-loving Kill-em-all-and-let-god-sort-em-out fanatics - I said "softer hand." I, unlike some of the fanatic right-wingers, do not consider a softer approach a weakness. It may be the smarter thing to do at times, and definitely worth considering if our goal, as we all claim, is to save lives.
Harper clearly idolizes the Bush admin. and reflects it's policies. That our involvement in Afghanistan should be decided based on Harper wanting to use a war to get re-elected because he saw Bush X2 do it, is appalling.
And wait, you sons-of-bitches who shout "support our troops" and bash anyone who actually tries to find ways to minimize the death rate for these very troops - I'm not done ripping into your cowardly asses as you sit at your computers in the comforts of your own homes and enjoy freedoms dearly paid for by the blood of others - you, who sit there "bravely" typing away, cheering our troops on as they daily face death - The Ministry of defense is now up to what? 15 single source contracts?O'Connor - that ex-lobbyist for military suppliers - claims that due to the Afghan mission, there is now time for the competitive approach. Yet it is coming out that not all of these contracts relate to the Afghan mission.
Anytime you see someone making money of of war, or other people's deaths, you better damn well ask yourself if they should have any say in that mission, and you better damn well re-examine the validity of that mission.Especially if you support our troops and care about the people we are claiming to help.
"That our involvement in Afghanistan should be decided based on Harper wanting to use a war to get re-elected because he saw Bush X2 do it, is appalling."
Try to keep away from the bong before you post, dickhead. Harper did not send the troops to Afghanistan. Search through the drug-induced haze, the name of the man responsible for that will come to you eventually.
Harper's the fucking prime minister now, "dickhead". He's overseen more than one decision about the continued deployment of our troops and the MO of our mission there, "dickhead". And it's his defence minister (according to jesus) using it as an excuse to make his buddies rich, "dickhead".
Yeah, let's reduce these deaths to an argument about which fucking political party should take more of the blame. That's more constructive than trying to actually change the situation...

Maybe you should re-read your Canadian history buddy. Canada has a history of making peace, Boer war, WW1, WW2, Korea, all that did change with that psychologically deranged idiot Pearson.
You can ONLY DO PEACEKEEPING IF THERE IS A PEACE TO KEEP. Pearson started the trend of doing peacekeeping after the peace had already been brokered. Such is not the case in Afghanistan.
The Taliban does not want peace because they have yet another plan for the poor population which is moving them back to the 7th century(again) and subjecting them to thing so brutal your narrow minded Liberal brain can't comprehend them, thus they can't exist.
The idea that if we just talk to them they'll come around is so simplistic that even my 5yr old can see your nuts.
Sometimes you need to punch the bully in the nose to get him to stop beating you.

And the "Canadian Commander Guy", he's called a General, you tool. But it's obvious you've never served in the military or you'd have a clue, and yes I did for more than 20 yrs. So I can speak with some knowledge on the subject.
After decades of training to defend my country and constantly having left-wing liberal governments cut the legs out from underneath us it's a privilege for soldier to do for their country what they've been trained to do.
It instills honour back into a military that had been neutered by beatniks and self flagellating liberal do nothing who wanted to destroy the military for the multicultural panacea they wished for our country.
Liberals, for the last forty years starting with that traitor Trudeau, have destroyed the very essence of what made Canada one of the greatest nations on the planet.
Turning this nation into a multicultural garbage can that is doomed to fail, for multiculturalism as it's currently implemented has never worked, any where, at any time in human history.
We are living in a Liberal social experiment that will fail, how much devastation our country will suffer before we rise again no one knows. Hopefully it will not be to much more for I wish my kids to have a bright future, but a real future, not one based on utopian notions that Liberalism can change human behaviour and instinct
"even my 5yr old can see your nuts"
What's your point? Everyone can see his nuts - he's 900 ft tall and wearing a loincloth.

“even my 5yr old can see your nuts.”
Thanks. I appreciate that because if someone like you, or the children you indoctrinate considered me sane, I’d be worried, based on your apparent criteria for sanity.
“After decades of training to defend my country and constantly having left-wing liberal governments cut the legs out from underneath us it's a privilege for soldier to do for their country what they've been trained to do.”
Sure, it would be a priviledge for a soldier to do what he’s taught to do - defend our country and rights. But why is our military fighting in Afghanistan? O’Connor has told us several different things, depending on the day - “retribution,” “improve the life of Afghans,” “war on terrorism.” I’m not opposed to all military involvement, but when you have a government that doesn’t allow proper debate before extending missions, changes the nature of the mission while denying they are doing so, and appoints an ex-lobbyist for military suppliers as head of defense - who goes on to use the Afghan mission as justification for sole source contracts - then yes, I will question the mission and the cost.

Oh, and now I’m supposed to believe that you give a damn about Afghans?

Darn it all! Yes, that Switzerland (a quadrilingual country, no less, just keeps proving itself over and over again to be a completely failed state.
You know, the Boer War, WW1 and Korea aren't exactly positive examples for warmaking. I'm not necessarily saying we should have sat the latter two out, but there were a hell of a lot of lives lost and ruined to accomplish very, very little.
Not that it's worth pointing this out to a semi-literate Canada-hater still ranting about Trudeau and multiculturalism several decades too late...
As I was busy dusting off my pictures of the deranged idiot Pearson, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the traitor Trudeau,, once more named greatest Canadian Prime Minister in a cross Canada poll, I kept wondering why Lex Luthor was popping into my head. Then it hit me:
“After decades of training to defend my country and constantly having left-wing liberal governments cut the legs out from underneath us it's a privilege for soldier to do for their country what they've been trained to do.

Infidel speaks as though the military exists in its own right, for its own sake. While I have a great deal of respect for our military, I believe, and most people claim to believe, that we should strive for peace and that the military is there in the event we need it to defend our freedom. We should hope never to have to engage in war. To read CI’s words, it sounds like a nice little war now and then is good for our military, and something they deserve for all of their years of training. Again, I mean no disrespect to those who fight, but I find that type of thinking very twisted.
