That scraping you hear ...

... is the sound of goalposts being moved as, back here, commenter "anonymous" plays the humanitarian card to defend Operation Afghan Adventure:

FYI - we are in Afghanistan to protect it's [sic] people from the Taliban and aid it's [sic] reconstruction.

OK, that's noble enough, but then I'm puzzled by previous commenter "surecure" in that same comments thread:

Cynic, enjoy the freedoms that so many soldiers' deaths has [sic] bought you.

So which is it, then? Are Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan dying for our safety and security, or only for that of the Afghanis? Gosh, but it's confusing when you don't quite have your story straight.

"Are Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan dying for our safety and security, or only for that of the Afghanis?"

Why can't it be both?

Oh, anonymous, you're so clever. And brave.
I'll answer your question with a question: How is a Canadian soldier's death "buying" my freedom?

Dearest Anonymous...it can be whatever your beautiful little mind wants it to be. That's the genius of being wingnut...reality has no part to play in how the universe unfolds.

Look... CC may have a valid point, but he made it in a truly appalling way. Any validity that might have been attached to the point were erased by the vicious rebuke of a woman speaking from a position of profound shock. To the last few "Why am I so bad when the other side is obviously trying to hold a hypocritical position?" CC bleats, I would suggest simply that two wrongs don't make a right, and would further argue that CC's continued citation of earlier rightwing whines, rants and diatribes smells of, "Methinks thou dost protest too much".

CC is starting to look like Gahan Wilson's decrepit soldier standing in the complete rubble of a destroyed world, exulting, "I think I won!" Well, good for him, I guess, but winning a flamewar means nothing when you burn your own credibility to ashes in the process.

Freedom of expression is tricky that way. I suggest you ignore what insults your soul and/or your delicate sensibilities.

...I don't read BT blogs for that very reason.

Any thoughts about practicing what you preach "thai-guy"?

So, in other words, Genny, you have no answer to the question? You just blame the mess on the Libs. BTW, just FYI, I dislike the Libs about as much as the I dislike the Conservative party you presumably support.
