I'm sure the irony here was entirely unintentional:
The lefty mind
In an excellent discussion between David Thompson and Ophelia Benson (co-author of ‘Why Truth Matters’) we get some insight into what goes on in lefty heads.
Why, yes ... because when I want to know why truth is a big deal, the first person I tend to ask is a Blogging Tory. But that's mostly because I'm an imbecile.
And as for JR's ideological role models:
Mises, Hayek, Friedman and Steyn are tops.
Um, yeah ... I'm guessing that's this Mark Steyn. If I were you, JR, I might keep that unseemly hero worship under wraps. Nothing I can put my finger on, but the word "creepy" kind of leaps to mind.
BONUS DUMBASSITUDE: This is the sort of thing that makes you wonder just how fucking stupid one human being can possibly be. Then you realize he's a Blogging Tory and it all makes sense.
How timely, as Gerry Nicholls just barfed out an opinion piece for the Sun group of papers that also dealt with the lefty mindset. We are commies! We hate Canada! Read his piece and you'll laugh so much your sides will ache, your heart will go pitter-pat.
What's with all these maroons opining on the "leftie mind" of late? I read this little exchange last night and found it singularly unedifying. And wasn't this sort of the same thing that "Gay and Wrong" Fred was getting at with his silly little anecdote pulled from some book about Commies?
I hope the BTs aren't going to spend the dog days of summer just sniffing each others butts like this because it's pretty tiresome stuff.
So is mine one of the lefty heads we get some insight into what goes on in? Or do I provide some of the insight into what goes on in lefty heads. An inquiring world wants to know!
If I'm not mistaken, the idea is that I woollily and sentimentally try to claim that postmodernism is not necessarily lefty while David sternly rebuffs my feeble fluffy dewy-eyed efforts. Well ya boo sucks to that: some deranged academics think that one has to be a postmodernist to be on the left, but guess what, they're just wrong.
as an intellectual and political movement pomo’s key contemporary figures – its architects and advocates - are almost all leftwing and often pointedly so. I’m guessing this isn’t just a coincidence…
I might have suggested pointing out here that they key contemporary figures of the KKK and Aryan Nation are almost all "rightwing" and often pointedly so. One might almost suggest that, by Thompson's reasoning, white supremacy is a core allegiance of the right...
We are commies! We hate Canada! Read his piece and you'll laugh so much your sides will ache, your heart will go pitter-pat.

We get the same BS down here. We're traitors. We support the terrorists. And it doesn't just come from our version of the Blogging Tories ( what the hell is a Tory anyways? ) it's coming from the Republican party. Their whole platform in the 2004 and 2006 elections was basically: If you vote for Democrats Osama Bin Ladin will personally come ass rape your dog and put a bomb in your house.
Was damned pathetic really. Because the Republicans don't have the slightest idea what the fuck they're doing. They don't understand the problem, so they can never fix the problem. Just like they don't understand crime, or drugs, or teen sex. They think the root cause is 'evil and immoral people' in all three cases and it's just not that simple. If you don't understand what causes a problem you just end up throwing endless supplies of money at it hoping it will go away. Just like they did with the war on drugs. Just like they do with abstinance only education and just like they're doing with the GWOT.
There will always be terrorists. Declaring 'war' on them is a waste of time, money, lives and effort that could be better spent. Sad isn't it. But at least these fat, lazy, stupid, cowardly, fuckers I call my countrymen are starting to wake up.
