I truly despise these people. If they could just stop coating their assertions with the veneer of moral judgement (ie. if Romney had avoided the term 'reasonnable' and simply held to the strict, legalistic argument that permits Bush to get away with this travesty), I'd have an easier time. But no...it's always their lofty pronouncements on the "goodness" of what is done that makes me sick to my stomach.
So he essentially ruined this kid's life in order to preserve his record of denying all requests for pardon. Just so he could brag about it in his campaigns. Sad, but not surprising.
(Sigh) Yeah, sadly, the Repubs probably aren't in such bad shape after all. Thanks for bringing me down, ti-guy.
Sorry about that. I think if something manages to break the strangle-hold the elite media in the US has over how it presents the Republicans to the people likely to vote Republican (and, surprisingly, there are good reasons, at least historically, for Americans to vote Republican), we might see some hope. But I don't think that'll happen. It's in the interests of the American ruling class for Americans to continue to vote against their own interests. Increasingly, it's beomining an act of desperate self-preservation.
Anyone that cannot see that the sole reason Bush acted as he did was to protect a fellow co-conspirator in the outing of Valerie Plame Wilson is so far lost to delusions or deception that there is no hope for them. Libby was convicted on overwhelming evidence of perjury and obstruction of justice in an investigation into whom at the WH was responsible for the leaking of the identity of a NOC. The *ONLY* reason for his repeatedly lying (and it was not just reporters involved, the trial had nine witnesses proving Libby lied, not just about what he claimed he forgot but he also made up stories like when he first heard about VPW working in the CIA as the court records clearly show) was to protect his bosses, the VP and President. That makes Bush's completely out of character for him and unprecedented commutation of a sentence prior to *ANY* time being served (so far as I have been able to find out he is the first Pres to do that) clearly motivated by the fear that once in prison either Libby or his wife would no longer keep silent about who ordered Libby to start leaking Plame's CIA identity which means Cheney for sure and potentially Bush himself.
That Romney is saying otherwise like all the rest of the GOP Presidential candidates (save one I believe, one of the second tier candidates I think opposed any pardon) only underscores that in the GOP it matters more to cover up the crimes of one of their own than it is to uphold the rule of law and the Constitution of the USA. It really is that simple.

To think Romney is a leading candidate for the Republican prez nomination. That party is in bad shape. (tee-hee!)
I don't know...Bush II was elected...twice. (well, technically once, but the second time was the real shock).

Apparently the subtleties of the electoral college system are too much for your pea-sized brain.
But you never let that stop you from blathering a load of bullshit.
