Daimnation's Mark C. is all about the basic human rights and freedoms:
Reasons why we fight
Terry Glavin at his best:
...that is the bracing truth that far too many people of the Canadian "left" have failed to muster the stamina to face: "Troops out" means war. It means the triumph of barbaric misogyny. It means a surrender to slavery.
In other news, Canada's conservatives stopped pleading for an end to "barbaric misogyny" and "slavery" just long enough to demand an end to legal abortion, because if those sluts were careless enough to get pregnant, then they deserve what's coming to them. Freedom to choose, indeed.
And your unfettered and unimpeded right to birth control? Yeah, let's talk about that, too ...

In the comments, Glavin states: "This is why you're the best, Mark."
Sheesh. These two dessicated ex-hippies should get a room.
"'Troops out' means war."
no offense, but of all the countires that afghani talibani and militants might consider over-running (as if), i think canada would be pretty far down the list.

It means the triumph of barbaric misogyny. It means a surrender to slavery.
If this is going to be their criteria for fighting, shall I start drawing up a list of countries that the Blogging Tories can declare war on then? I can think of about twenty, right off the top of my head.
"a list of countries that the Blogging Tories can declare war on then?"
enough to make one long for the days when the soviets kept dumbocracy in check....

Yes, because the current government in Afghanistan is all about human rights. Just ask the guys out forces handed over to be tortured. Just ask journalists who dare speak out against Islam. Just ask someone who dares convert to Christianity or any other religion besides Islam.
Fighting for human rights and democracy are noble things, but that sin't what we are fighting for and defending in Afghanistan.
