Blogging Tory and anti-choice douchebag JoJo goes straight for the heartstrings:
Man kills woman's son - gets charge of attempted murder
Why, that's despicable! That's outrageous! That's ... that's ... um ... not quite what happened ...
A Dartmouth, N.S., man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for stabbing his pregnant fiancée in the stomach 15 times with a sword.
Oh.
It wasn't a "son," it was a fetus.
Ah, that's all right ... it's JoJo -- you knew something in that post was going to be dishonest.

I haven't found a link which says what stage of development the fetus was in, but 14 years is definitely a good sentence for denying the child the chance to be born and attempting to kill the mother.
She was 4 months pregnant (as stated in the second link in JoJo's post), therefore the fetus was not viable. This doesn't excuse what he did, but JoJo's reference to "a son" is too, too precious.
Um, Raph? If you read the CBC article carefully, you'll notice that the man in question was initially charged with "attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon," while he eventually pleaded guilty to "attempted murder," all charges that appear to be entirely related to his attack on the woman and having nothing to do with the fetus.
In short, Raph, the death of the fetus appears to play no part in either the original charges or the eventual sentence. Therefore, your statement that the sentence of 14 years is, in part, appropriate due to "denying the child the chance to be born" is, of course, utterly illogical and unsupported by the facts.
Care to try again? And maybe get it right this time? That'd be nice, dear.
Well if we go by biblical principals he would have gotten off with a fine.
So, $100 and call me in the morning.
Our country reeks of trees,
Our Yaks are really large,
And they smell like roting beef carcasses,
And we have clean up after them,
And our saddle sores are the best,
We proudly wear women's clothing,
And searing sand blows up our skirts,
And the buzzards, they soar overhead,
And poisonous snakes will devour us whole,
our bones will bleach in the sun,
And will probability go to Hell,
And that's our great reward,
For being the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen!!!
Hey, If I have to suffer, so do you guys.
No, zorph ... the proper expression is, "Hey, if Cathrine has to suffer, so do you guys."
See how much better that reads?

If you boys can't play nice, I'm going to have separate you.
Hardly a laughing matter, but this struck me as kind of funny (from the CBC article):
After the sentencing, Knapp said Bryan was scared of being a bad father.
No shit!
Notice that JoJo completely downplays the fact that a pregnant woman was attacked with a sword? It s not about the woman, its about the fetus. JoJo doesn't give a damn about the woman and wouldn't give a damn about the fetus if it had ever been born...
I'm sure she has a complete post that she had to hold back (or even delete) after seeing the man's name.
After all, he attacked with a sword, so he must be a Muslim. And was she to be his first wife or second? Or third? And by attacking her, he must be a Taliban.
So a single celled organism is a person, while a Taliban is... is... not.
