Lukiwski, He's A Sorry Bastard

The Leader Post wants us to know that Prime Minister New Steve Harper is feeling all Tammy Wynette for Tommy Lukiwski.

Harper stands by embattled Regina MP Tom Lukiwski

REGINA -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday stood by embattled Regina Conservative MP Tom Lukiwski...

Something of a political reach around maneuver. But hey, old news and besides Tommy is ever so sorry. Tell us how sorry you are Tommy.

Lukiwski is now parliamentary secretary to Government House Leader Peter Van Loan.
After coming under attack in the Commons on Thursday, when the tape was released, Lukiwski delivered an apology in the Commons foyer, saying he was "truly, truly sorry" and "would give anything in the world to take those comments back."

Golly gosh, is he ever sorry that the video came to light. He's incredibly, deeply sorry that people have discovered what he thinks in this troubling and graphic manner. Tommy is shaken to the quick to have his constituents and all of Canada learn the root basis for his suggestion in 2005 that equal marriage would lead to "polygamy and social decline".

And Tommy would give just anything to take back the evidence of his spiteful, cretinous attitude. That's why he has decided to step down from his position as Parliamentary Secretary to Government House Leader Peter Van Payday Loan... what's that? Oh. He hasn't stepped down. Okay, well, he won't give
that. Then, that's why he has accepted the Prime Minister's decision to strip him of his position and consign him to the back benches... sorry, what? Oh. Neither the Prime Minister, the party nor the government are going to discipline l'il Tommy.

In short, he is so sorry that he got caught and that in his youth he had not learned to couch his true feelings. He is deeply sorry that the attitudes that underpinned his voting record and other slightly less controversial statements have now been clarified. He's so very sorry that he would give anything to take those comments back, anything at all... except, you know, anything.

So Tommy Lukiwski, how's about you get the fuck up on your 'A guy' soapbox and disavow all of those comments. Not just a practiced apology but address the specifics of your own words and attitudes and explain how those attitudes have changed. Tell us what you feel now Tommy, in just as much detail, you of the clean fingernails. How about you demonstrate to this nation and the many of us who are labouring under the impression that you are a pig ignorant, hate spitting bigot under a veneer, that you have learned and grown in the ensuing years.

And as for fat Steve, well, since he's a guy who ran for office and won the government on a platform built on the other side's old scandals, this isn't a surprise. It's okay if you're a so-con. Besides Lukiwski's crime was failing to state what his peers and he agree on in subtler terms and on camera. Conservative Reform Alliance Party business as usual.

Hell, their kind of preachers can get caught fucking midget junkie hookers wearing rubber tuxedos, weep a few snot filled apologies and hug their ugly wives, quote some scripture and it is all good. On account of values. They got 'em. They got them some values, I know, 'cos they keep sending me election type flyers to remind me how they are tough on crime. Unless they're the ones offending. That's different.

But... other MPs have said bad things too so that makes it okay, right?

But... I was drinking too much...

But...the media has "raked me over the coals"...

But Tommy Douglas said that homosexuality was a mental illness in .. er... 1968. 1968 and 1991 are practically the same year.

But...

Tee hee ... does this mean they both got a "happy ending"?

Now, that I'd believe.

Hmm yeah... I bet if we had a closer look at that video, we might even see the Old Telltale Sign, "ring around the nostril". And where's he going at the end of it when he leaves the room? Oh yeah: "the washroom". Heh.

That's a reason I never did coke. All the people I knew who did (and there were a lot in the early 90's) sounded like Lukiwsky.

What's wrong with coke?

George W. Bush did coke.

Nobody's ever asked him to apologize for anything.

Well, that what happens in a society where history doesn't matter; every moment is a brand new day. In fact, I think that goes very far in explaining America's intractable drug addictions...which the 3rd World can't understand at all, by the way.

But, but, but, he was only kidding? He really didn't mean it? He had a bad day at the office? He thought he was safe and that no one would ever see the tape outside his little group of bigots? He was colossally stupid which begs the question how on earth he can function as a government MP? Why does this man still have a job in the Canadian government?
Ti, the third world may not understand, but the western addiction is the basis of some countries' economy these days, particularly Afghanistan. Gosh forbid that Westerners give up the nose candy, cause countless Afghanis would starve, as would many, many South American peasants who have no alternative but to produce in order to survive. I've also read that the rising incidence of addiction in Afghanistan is alarming. Don't know whether it's true, however, looks as if the western values are really making inroads there.

If Lukiwski is a homosexual considering when to come out, well, now would be a good time. All would be forgiven, since he would be able to claim he is an "A" homosexual who practices safe sex, gets tested when he doesn't, and keeps his fingernails clean. Compared to the "B"s, who at the start of the 90s, were the promiscuous fools who thought they would never get an STD.

Let's take a poll…

Who seriously & genuinely believes he was only kidding?

Not me.

Seer, I was not being serious. Being raised by a man who, in my rosy haze of white suburban life, didn't know was a bigot until I was 14....I never got over that realization. This man is a bigot, and quite frankly, I agree with Bruce (Canuck Attitude), and Simon (Montreal Simon) he's a closeted bigot, cause only those men feel it necessary to be ultra-macho. I do hope you realize I was trying to be satirical?

I didn't know others are as suspicious as I am. Makes sense though, one definition of homophobia is the fear that you yourself will be discovered to be homosexual.

It was the "dirty fingernails" part that really made me suspicious. The gay stereotype I have always had is that gay men are like metrosexuals in manner and way they conduct themselves, except they are gay. A dirty fingernails gay would be something else, generally someone with poor hygiene. Why else would Lukiwski tack that on to his words?
