Holy crap, the (in some cases Rebel News-related) financial docs.

Anonymous commenter just dropped a link to here, which I have barely had time to skim so others are welcome to paw through it. Enjoy.

OH, MAN, there is some delightful info if you start digging through those docs. It's common knowledge that the shady org called "The Democracy Fund" simply repurposed an existing CRA-registered charity called "Bao Bao With Love", and if one checks online regarding that org, one sees what appears to be the old set of directors:

Amusingly, if one peruses the org chart at the OneDrive page, well, apparently, we have some new directors. Anyone here look familiar?

I think it's time for some forensics, no?

P.S. I have no idea whose work that is on that One Drive page, but someone has certainly put in some time to connect the dots.

Ezra is the king of grift. What else is there to know? Lol

"Page: 2The Parties[5]Rebel was founded in 2015 by Ezra Levant (“Levant”). According to Levant, Rebel is an online source of news and commentary designed to be an alternative to mainstream news outlets and publications. It is not generally in dispute that Rebel has adopted a conservative and right-wing orientation in its presentation of news and commentary."

So Ezra is saying that the Rebel are just misinformation and Conservative propaganda?

I thought Sheila Gunn Reid was a rugged hillbilly living on a family farm in Northern Alberta. Downtown Toronto seems off-brand (and inaccurate) for her.

I am bemused to see Erza directly linked to Hamish Marshall of the CPC...

Ezra being Ezra, I’m sure this interlaced spiderweb of for-profit and NFP corporations is:
(a) legal, if only marginally. CRA and Corporations Canada are pretty specific about the number of directors an NFP and a linked business are allowed to share, but SOME overlap is permitted.
b) just the tip of the iceberg. I’m sure each special project or Rebel fundraiser has its own corporate identity to firewall Ezra and the Rebel shareholders against liability.
Interesting to add a few new names, corporate shells, and sleazy law firms to the Rebel clusterfuck. Kudos to the digger!

Well, Sheila we know, of course. Eitan is an old Crony of Ezra's from the Sun days, former VP of Rebel Operations and now Chief Operating Officer. That two Rebel staff are on the Board of a receipt-issuing not for profit organization that's funnelling money to the Rebel should definitely be of great interest to CRA.
