MONTREAL - The family of a teen shot by police on the weekend said it was upset to see that a peaceful demonstration against the shooting turned into a riot.
Fredy Villanueva, 18, was shot by police on Saturday after officers encountered him and his friends in a park. The officers said they felt threatened and opened fire.
Um ... come again? They "felt threatened" so they shot an 18-year-old to death? Kind of an over-reaction, wouldn't you say? But wait ... it gets better:
Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay said he has asked provincial Public Security Minister Jacques Dupuis to conduct an investigation into the shooting that is transparent "and that we have results ... as soon as possible.
Uh, yeah ... Public Security Minister Jacques Dupuis and "transparency." I can't wait to see how that works out:

The Quebec provincial police will not comment any further on the affair, a spokeswoman in Montreal said.
Quebec Justice Minister Jacques Dupuis was made aware of the news, but a spokesman from his office said he will not comment on the matter either.
