When Blogging Tories comment badly.

New arrival MichaelCC proposes to set us straight:

-oh, and for the record, Bill O'Reilley [sic] is a registered Independent!

Yes, Michael ... of course he is.

We now return you to your regular blogging here at CC HQ, where the writing actually has some correspondence with reality. Call it a character flaw.

Hey, i'm commenting again! Bill O'Reilly admitted it was a "mistake", and that he is now registered as an Independent.

michaelcc: Could you explain exactly what it means to be a "registered independent" in the United States?

It seems not to be the same as being a member of a political party. Why would one register? I understand the ballot isn't really secret anymore with Diebold counting them, but people would "register" with parties or even register as independent back in the old days when they ballots could be kept secret.
