From dopey to pure dumbshit retarded.

Canada's Most Bestest Blogger™ Kate McMillan officially gives up on reality:

Um ...sorry, what was that again?

Moreover, the actual trapping of heat cannot raise an object's temperature in the first place. It only slows down heat loss.

Really, Kate? Let me suggest an experiment. Car. Rolled-up windows. Sunny day.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph but that woman is an imbecile. Holy shit.

FUCKING HELL ... who else do you think would be enough of a moron to swallow the same utter bunkum? Guess. Go on, guess. You'll never guess.

I didn't think it was possible for the right whingers to get any dumber. I should have known better than to underestimate them.

I think you should widen the materials used in your hypothetical example.

Car, Windows Rolled Up, Minitature Shnauzer, Hot Day.

Well, at least she's not calling for the internment of native people or suggesting intravenous drug users share needles, spread diseases and die. And no one can sue her for libel for posting this bit of idiocy.

In KKKate's world, this is good day. Yay!

Someone should explain to Kate the difference between open and closed systems.

The ignorance, and I'm sure it's a willful ignorance, is astounding.

I'm a high school dropout FCS, and I know better than this.

You are all idiots!

The Earth isn't warming because all of the excess heat falls out the bottom of the Earth through the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica!

Geez....

Catherine is using another fallacy, comparing one way of retarding heat transfer with another.

A thermos bottle slows heat transfer in both directions, in and out. In the case of the Earth, the incoming heat is short wave infrared. It is absorbed by the earth which then re-radiates it as long wave infrared. Greenhouse gases will block long wave radiation and so trap the heat that would otherwise be re-radiated into space. They don't block short wave radiation.

Short and long wave infrared radiation are similar to different colours. Just as rose coloured glasses pass rose colour but not other colours nearly as much, the greenhouse gases pass short wave infrared but not long wave as much. Therefore the energy balance is changed and so the equilibrium temperature will be too.

nonono, she is right, simply trapping heat doesn't make things warmer. A thermos full of coffee doesn't get warmer. So trapping heat in the greenhouse gas layer of the atmosphere is not a problem, just as long as the sun goes out...

Fizzicks - another leftwing plot to steal our munnies!

If I extrapolate her explanation correctly, nothing could ever get warmed up. I mean, if heat is not being trapped, then it is being reflected or repulsed, is it not?
Holding heat is the same as trapping it etc.

WTF, I mean, how is anything supposed to get warm other than generating its own heat if 'trapping heat' doesn't warm it up???

Does my cigarette light itself if, according to her, it doesn't trap any heat from my lighter flame? How does the temp of the tobacco reach the combustion temperature?

How about campfires?

Actually, there IS a way to be stupider about this stuff. Lets see if Kate gets fooled by the whole "Global warming caused by orbiting satellites" thing thats gong around.

Somebody should perhaps point out to her that the surface temperature of Venus is higher than that of Mercury, despite the fact that Mercury is significantly closer to the sun. This is because of the greenhouse effect. Further, somebody should point out that Venus keeps its heat, whereas the surface temperature of Mercury goes from roughly 400'C when facing the sun, to -200'C on its night side

Saskboy said...

Nonsense James! Everyone with a thermometer knows that you can't go below about 50 degrees, just past where C and F meet at 40. I also can't find 400 C on my oven, so I'm doubtful that that exists either, but maybe you have a newer model that invented a higher possible temperature.

I tried to go there and check out the comments section but my browser timed out. I'll bet it would've been a treat.

Lies! Lies! Lies!

As anyone with a brain can plainly see here, Venus is much closer to the Sun than Mercury. You can also see in this article that the Great Lie started with who? THE ARABS!! TEH MOOSLIMS!!11!!!!!

By the way, "Exhibit C" on Shaidle's list... Since when is James Kirchick a "lefty"? I think Dawg can add that to his growing list of examples of Kathy being fast and loose with the facts. Go ask Ezra Klein how much of "lefty" this wanker is.

Way ahead of you! (see my UPDATE).

Kate's followers, by the way, are even nuttier than she is. Check these comments out:

If the planet warmed 5 Centigrade, it would be good. All those northern landmasses (Canada Russia) would support teaming life and the Sahara would become green again.

And of course no Kate thread would be complete without this kind of thing:

To continue to argue the science is a waste of time. They (the climate brokers and their loons) simply won't accept facts, evidence or proof of any kind that they are wrong. They are after the wealth and destruction of the Western economies. So is Islam with their oil prices and stupid archaic religion. For that matter, so is Barrack Hussein Obama and his down-trodden, self-pitying gang of under achieving Negroes.

Whaddaya expect Kate to publish?? (I always knew that Nazi science was garbage.)

Global warming is caused by greenhouse gasses, No? ... Don't people use greenhouses to help keep plants nice and toasty? Do these things not work the same way? Hence the name greenhouse gasses.

Why is it so hard to convince folks? I would think this argument would be rather persuasive.

Of course that only has the small problem, I have presupposed that these people have some intelligence... A Fatal Flaw in my argument...
