Yeah, so take THAT, eh?

How odd ... apparently, someone replaced Blogging Tory Crime Reporter "Neo Conservative" with a die-hard consumer activist while we weren't looking:

Who luvs ya, baby?

Funny how that "minority government" thing doesn't seem to be slowing down the ambitious Conservative government legislative agenda.

-- OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised "sweeping new legislation" Tuesday to protect consumers and warned that companies that care more about their profits than their customers will soon face "severe" punishment.

The new measures come after a series of high-profile voluntary recalls of toxic toys and tainted food in the past year. Currently, Health Canada has no authority to recall products, and has to rely on companies to issue voluntary recalls.

Unlike the nanny-state fiberal yip-yap... there's actually some teeth in this new package...

The centrepiece of the new Consumer Product Safety Act would be the government's new power to issue a mandatory recall of any product. This includes the disclosure of confidential business information without the company's consent if there is a serious and imminent health risk.

Less talk... more rock.

I can only guess that Neo failed to get the memo describing how conservatives are adamantly opposed to more government regulation and consumer protection. How curious. Check back tomorrow when Neo opines as to how maybe foreigners aren't filthy sub-humans after all.

Stranger things have happened.

Ohmigod ... up is down, black is white, right is wrong. Soon you'll be trying to tell me that KKKate will give up her racist, dumbfuck ways and is heading out on a UN peace mission.

I'm frightened - someone hold me.

It's all because of the "OK, so you have a majority. Now what?" post.

They don't want to answer that, so it's all charm offensive now. Because they will say absolutely anything, in order to get that majority.

Then they pass the enabling act.

Hold on, hold on. I thought the problem with the nanny state was that it forced people to act a certain way to advance a specific agenda. But Neo's problem with the nanny state is that their legislation has no teeth, doesn't enforce anything.

I guess teeth in legislation comes under the IOKIYAC banner.

But you'd never know from Neo's post that he has any political leanings, especially where he talks about the CPC's "ambitious" agenda...

I believe in voluntary regulation. It surprises me that "Neo" wants to impose more "big government" regulation instead. Does he think that corporations would intentionally circumvent safety guidelines and flog unsafe, toxic products just to save a buck? Perish the thought! Has the man not FAITH in the goodwill of capitalism? Sheesh.

Your products will pass if each of your employees donates $1099 to the CPC.
Thank you.

He believes in socializing the loses and internalizing the profits?

CWTF — Yep. I believe he's one of those folks who wants to have it both ways. [insert sexual innuendo here]
