'New Government' mantra wearing thin, poll finds

OTTAWA -- Canadians are growing weary of the Conservative government's claim it remains "Canada's New Government" after 18 months in power, a recent poll shows.

Ah -- got it:

OTTAWA -- Every one of Stephen Harper's cabinet ministers has been told to be in the capital Monday morning, with signs pointing to a larger-than-anticipated cabinet shuffle as the prime minister moves to re-energize his minority government.

And then we'll be good for another 18 months of wingnuttery, neo-con "newness."

In other developments, the captain is re-arranging this bunch of deck chairs ...

I've started loudly calling them "Canada's New-Con government." They apparently want to stick the "new" in there forever despite the fact that no, Canada's government is NOT new; just the people in the seats are new, unless they changed our form of government without the proper procedures of consulting the people.

But they want "new" in there, fine. I can make it sound like "Neo" very easily, and describe them as what they really are: a bunch of fascist neo-Cons conning the country.

Dammit! I thought that the Americans had a batshit crazy government, and that Canadians (at least those I've met) seemed a lot more rational. I had plans of, you know, going for a nice post doc there, having a pint without some crazy far-right religious freak ruining it for me, and now you've completely shot my dream down :(
