Apparently, Fred Phelps was unavailable.

It's always amusing to see who those in the Wingnut-o-sphere select as their role models. Like, say, this guy (emphasis added):

Here’s an interview with Dr. Laura Schlessinger on her recent book The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage. What strikes me as particularly good about her advice is that she isn’t [sic] muddy gender roles, the existential fact of obvious differences between men and women...

A few years ago I used to listen to her on the radio, and somedays she could be absolutely brutal. But I always admired her hard-headed good sense and her humour, which is probably why so many phoned in for advice; for someone to verbally thrash and rake them over the coals, something to break the pattern of their own stupidity.

Hmmmmm ... one wonders, would that be the hard-headed, good sense, good advice and perpetually moralizing lifestyle mentor Dr. Laura who once posed for nude photos? Or had an affair with a married man? Or cared so little about her mother that she wasn't even aware of her death for months? Or is the raging, ignorant homophobe? Or ... oh, heck, have fun.

Um ... actually, now that I think about it, I can see exactly Dr. Laura's conservative appeal. Forget I mentioned all this.

FREE RIGHT-WING PORN! Not workplace safe. You've been warned. Man, the things I do for you folks.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Sometimes, I really love Wikipedia, just for its wicked brevity:

Once the nude photo scandal came to light, reports surfaced that Schlessinger cheated on her first husband, broke up the marriage of the man who became her second husband, lived with him while unmarried and intentionally bore a child with him out of wedlock -- all things she railed against on her show, but never mentioned were part of her personal life experience. Schlessinger's response to these criticisms was that "A hypocrite says, 'Do what I say, not what I do,' rather than, 'Do what I say, not what I did'".

In totally unrelated news, make sure you check out Dr. Laura's new book, "The Proper Care & Feeding of Marriage," coming soon to irredeemably gullible bookstores near you.

here we go... santa barbara independent has the story.

"“Dr. Laura,” a radio talk show host known for her cutthroatly conservative views and tough-love opinions who started writing a column for the N-P following the start of the daily’s meltdown last July — would be “taking a break from her column.”

The announcement came after a particularly rough week for the well-known pundit and author, one that began with her reportedly attacking military wives for being whiners and ended with the Pentagon launching an investigation into a load of objectionable material that her Army son allegedly posted to his MySpace page. The news about her 21-year-old, Afghanistan-based soldier son — whose MySpace page supposedly had cartoon images of rape, murder, torture, child molestation, and more — broke on Saturday, and has since been picked up in a number of media markets. The announcement about her break followed on Sunday, though it remains unclear whether the two situations are related. She has not returned a request for comments."

"images of rape, murder, torture, child molestation, and more..." values values values i have no doubt that ol' doc laura would be the first to tell you that the kiddies learn their values from their parents or at least they ought to. lest they be larnin' from the evil, scary secularists and liberals in the school system.

The (batshit crazy) gift that keeps on giving: here.

Oh, man, this has such potential for entertainment.

By the way, in all fairness, it is inappropriate to hold a mother (even one who perpetually scolds everyone else on how to properly raise their children) responsible for the actions of her own child.

On the other hand, tracking down some obscure, leftist blogger somewhere on the planet who once said something tactless clearly proves that all progressives everywhere are unhinged, deranged moonbats.

I'm glad I could clear that up for you.

Why is it that revelations of glaring hypocrisy such as this never seem to damage the careers of wingnuts? Rush being a multi-divorced, pill-popping drug addict while demonizing the liberals for their immorality, being the most notable example.

There can only be one answer to that question: because they're all doing it. And those that aren't, wish they were.

This is what makes them such a rich mine of comedy gold;)

Yet another right winger who loves to tell people how they must behave...

I just hope that people like Newt Gingrich and Bill OReilly never made nude photos.

and if they did... that sites like IEG will have the decent NOT to print them.

I mean like, nobody wants to see a nekkid BillO or Newt Gingrich.
