Yeah, that's a real knee-slapper, isn't it, Chucker?

Blogging Tory ChuckerCanuck pretty much wets himself with laughter:

If Dion Became PM....

.... it would be the first time a PhD would be Prime Minister. Sort of.

The hilarity?

If the Liberals win the next election, "it will be the first time in the history of Canada that the prime minister of Canada will have a PhD," Dion said.

A couple hundred Liberals signalled their approval with applause.

It was a good sales pitch. But it's not true...

But [William Lyon Mackenzie] King, Canada's prime minister during World War II, earned a doctorate of philosophy. From Harvard, no less.

Whoo hoo! What a dolt, that Dion! What a tard! What an ultramaroon, eh, Chucker?

On the other hand ...

Yeah, Chucker, if I had to make a choice, I'm thinking that intellectual comparison would be a no-brainer. If you catch my drift. And I think you do.

ChuckerCanuck used to be fun, but his blogs's always infested with dreary wingnuts.

...and one woman of rather loose morals.

Never mind Chucker. Did Dion really say something as stupidly crass as that? If I ever had doubts about his utter fecklessness, they're gone now.

Doubts About Dion's Fecklessness. 2007 - 2008. RIP.

...a moment of silence, if you please.

Charles is 90% fine (I know him in real life - I no longer go to his blog - there are reasons, I won't get into them, suffice it to say that I was hurt and let's leave it at that)

His wingnuts, who he seems utterly unable or unwilling to deal with basically wander about flinging poo like all good winged monkey's.

Also apparently everytime I go there I get "owned" by them.

"Owned" in this usage means "giving up in utter disgust at the lies, the half truths, the way Charles does nothing or throws gas on the fire to rein in the monkey's or the petty "you swore, the fact that I insulted everything you believe as being stupid, retarded and lacking in moral character doesn't count" bullshit... "

Yes. I liked Charles' blog quite a lot at the beginning, but what ever interesting bits there are now have been submerged under the flung poo. Some of it is on Charles and some of it is due to the fact that the monkey's are just so virulent.

Cameron,

Its true, I do very little to control the comments thread of my blog.

If you "polled" "my wingnuts" - I would say they all wish you would come back, at least once in a while, and I think a strong majority would say they learned from you, enjoyed reading your comments and never felt they "owned" you.

They would likely put you just on the reasonable edge of their definition of "wingnut". So, the word "wingnut" is a funny one to use, you know? Everybody is somebody's wingnut.

In order for everyone to talk, we have to be ready to hear thoughts we think are wingnutty and to be heard as a complete wingnut. That's a point where Warren Kinsella and I disagree. I want to hear what neo-Nazis have to say. I'd rather have them talk openly through a park than whisper consipiratorially in the attic of a house.

So, while I respect whatever you have done and can hold me to blame for something - the other folks, the wing-nuts - thought and think well of you.

Canadian Cynic,

Thanks for the traffic and the point. Well made, even if I see things a little differently. I'll give you a shout out tomorrow and hope I can send half as many people your way as you did mine.

Cheers.

ps. curious, why do you prevent anonymous comments and fake-name comments?

Chucker asks:

"why do you prevent anonymous comments and fake-name comments?"

One: I've found that the most relentlessly obnoxious trolls comment anonymously. [*]

Two: It keeps lengthy comment threads organized, as you don't have to try to distinguish between half a dozen different commenters, all posting anonymously.

[*] I normally respect everyone's privacy, regardless of how annoying or trollish they are, but I will make an exception in the case of tedious, unimaginative commenter "Francis Walsingham." If anyone knows who this person is, drop me a note with the details, and I will arrange to have him(?) killed.

I'm joking, of course. But only about the killing part. A good, brutal kneecapping will do just fine.

Chucker, I guess a finer point to put on it is that the noise to signal ratio at your place drove me out.

And my point remains that your wingnuts and the more reasoned commentators are difficult to differentiate when none of the reasoned ones ever raises as much as a peep when the wingnuts go off.

I guess that's my problem with you not trying to rein them in.

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have to go and see if I have a job come August.
