Australia kept in dark over Afghanistan mission
DEFENCE Minister Joel Fitzgibbon has returned from a high-level NATO meeting in Lithuania saying he was shocked to discover that Australia had sent troops to Afghanistan without being given access to key strategy documents.
He told The Age last night he was amazed when he found out NATO had prepared a comprehensive document on how the war should be fought but that Australia would not have access to it.

1. The purpose of military training is to train common sense out of the soldier, because anyone with common sense is not going to do what guys like Dear Leader and Glorious Leader tell them to do.
2. There is are three security clearances, within the alliance structure which are described as "NATO confidential," "NATO secret," and "NATO top secret." All American and Canadian officers have at least a "NATO secret" clearance. T%hough the NATO war plan may be classified as "NATO top secret."
3. What makes you think anyone in Australia has a "NATO top secret" security clearance?

Without information, why should Australia - or Canada for that matter - commit troops?
On a 'trust me'? Right.

1. Canada is part of NATO; Canadians were cleared to know.
2. As to why you would commit your troops without knowing what's going on, that's a question for the Australians.
