Holy Dancing Jeeeezuz.

As God is my witness, I have no idea where to go with this.

Last week, after a debate on amending the Tennessee constitution to say that it doesn’t guarantee the right to abortion, state Sen. Doug Henry (D) stood up and reflected on how rape has changed:

Rape, ladies and gentlemen, is not today what rape was. Rape, when I was learning these things, was the violation of a chaste woman, against her will, by some party not her spouse. Today it’s simply, “Let’s don’t go forward with this act.”

Henry then went on to say “I remember the good old days when you could make sure your bitch knew her place … which was barefoot, pregnant and silent in the kitchen.”

Do these people hear themselves when they speak? Seriously?

I just don't know what to say about this except to splutter incoherently.

I mean, oh no! We've redefined rape to include all acts of unwanted sexual intercourse and not just those outside of traditional patriarchy-approved female-repressing institutions! Good lord no!

Truly stunning. This is what happens when legislators get completely out of touch with reality.

Yeah, those were the good old days, weren't they?

"Was she chaste? No? All right, then, movin' on ..."

Ah, nostalgia ...

I seriously keep hoping that the dude meant, "Back when I was taught these things, there was a narrow definition, and all sorts of real rape situations were missed. Now, finally the word has been redefined, and thank god for that".

But I'm optimistic to the point of lunacy. :)

Wouldn't do anything. At that age, a cracker's distended belly protects the jewels.
