Goose. Gander. Fetuses. Deal with it.
Not surprisingly, creepy fetus fetishist and Catholic whackjob SUZANNE is downright thrilled about the Fetusmobile currently cruising the streets of Calgary, her reasoning being that showing unwitting spectators graphic photos of aborted fetuses will shock some Godly sense into them. Absolutely, SUZANNE -- I couldn't agree more. But why stop with aborted fetuses?
Why not take the next logical step and parade around a truckload of pictures of stillborn or miscarried fetuses, accompanied by a large banner proclaiming, "God didn't give a shit about these children, so he killed them." That only makes sense, wouldn't you say, SUZANNE?
And, as the final component in this grisly trifecta, what about a travelling display entitled "The Catholic Church and altar boys don't mix," spiced up with delightfully graphic pics of torn, bleeding and abused rectums of young boys? Yeah, I'm betting that would get some folks' attention. I bet they'd forget all about those fetuses. I know I would.

Quick, get your helmet on, CC! You're bound to be targeted by the Full Scale 30-Day Prayer Assault after that!
If those Bible-pounding loons wanted to do as much damage as possible, they might try responding to my criticism with logic and reason and actually addressing the issues.
I might very well drop dead from pure astonishment.
The catholic church handled their indifference to the sexual sadists within their midst the best way they knew how...give them wider access to children to rape and torture. The gullible who give the despicable old pricks money virtually financed the cover up of child abuse. That's a family value to certainly be proud of.
CC: they might try responding to my criticism with logic and reason" I'd bet the farm on the snowball's chance in hell over a long-shot like that.
(BTW, just noticed the B/roll. Thanks!):D
"Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy "
OK ,OK, Stop the music Lenny, we know the rest.
Granted she can bathe, feed and dress herself.
Getting a bit more challenging is the part about turning on the computer and get the fingers poised over the keyboard but from there on in the need for more than half a brain kicks in.
All that's missing is the 200 cats in her feces covered home on the range.
Oh wait.
That's dogs and KKKatie.
My mistake, I keep getting these crazy people mixed up.
"Why not take the next logical step and parade around a truckload of pictures of stillborn or miscarried fetuses, accompanied by a large banner proclaiming, "God didn't give a shit about these children, so he killed them."
So, to be clear, you see no difference between aborted fetuses and miscarried or stillborn ones? Am I reading you correctly?
"If those Bible-pounding loons wanted to do as much damage as possible, they might try responding to my criticism with logic and reason and actually addressing the issues."
Can you spell out the "issues" as you see them? Are you referring to the truck, the lack of equal time for stillborn photos, or priests raping boys? Or all three? Which combination of "issues" being dealt with would satisfy your desire to "drop dead from pure astonishment".
Let me know.
Truck.............Dumb Idea................
FR...
Pictures of aborted fetuses in public view. Blaming medical professionals and women making difficult life decisions. Complete ignorance of the fact that abortion occurs spontaneously, if god exists and causes EVERYTHING, god is also an abortionist, or murderer so the anti-abortion crowd likes to label medical professionals. Child rape swept under the carpet, never discussed as the crime that it is, church blames gay community and uses them as scapegoats, labeling them as evil and "anti-family", campaigns to ensure they are treated as outcasts, claiming to "love" them. Transfers rapists to other "parishes" to further rape, molest and otherwise ruin many a childhood. Church remains silent, followers give excuses and money, to shut the victims up and go away. Does that give you some inkling as to the real issues FR? Seems to me this "truck" ought to have a lot more pictures on the side of it as CC points out the obvious.
Shorter fergusrush: "But ... but ... but ... that's different!"
Well, you made a reply but didn't have the bag to actually deal with my questions. Moving on....
You trumpet yourself as a man of logic, a man of science. Let's see.
The pictures on the truck in Calgary show abortion for what it really is, so you cannot logically refute their content. This leaves you with attacking the messenger as your only option, your preferred option, as it were, so you are least playing to your strength. So you resort to logical fallacies like straw men and ad hominem attacks: the "bleeding and abused rectums of young boys" argument and the "creepy fetus fetishist and Catholic whackjob" attack on another blogger. For we all know how well calling someone a "whackjob" utterly skewers the content of their argument. Scientifically, and logically, that is.
Your argument goes: " I don't like the fact that these people are using real photos to bolster their position. But it's okay, nobody has to take the content of their argument seriously because.." and then you insert your two attacks listed above, realizing that your regular crowd here, like the "waterboy", will be distracted by the shiny thing you put in front of them and not notice that you did not refute the other side's actual
information. For a man who says "they might try responding to my criticism with logic and reason and actually addressing the issues", you do a mighty fine tap dance around actually practising what you preach. Goose, gander, indeed.
Having demonstrated that you are not a man of logic, based upon your performance above, let's continue to beat that same drum, another "towel snap to the nads", as you are so fond of saying.
You say: "Why not take the next logical step and parade around a truckload of pictures of stillborn or miscarried fetuses, accompanied by a large banner proclaiming, "God didn't give a shit about these children, so he killed them.". The only way you could truly see this to be the "next logical step" is for you to believe that it is different only in degree, not in kind. Since you were afraid to answer my questions in my previous comment, I'll have to take your post at face value: you see no difference between aborted fetuses and miscarried or stillborn ones. This means that, for you, the only salient fact is that the fetuses are dead; how they got that way is unimportant. This is convenient for you because it disregards human free will, the choice being made which divides miscarriages from abortions. Now, however, you've put yourself in the position of being a "pro-choice" supporter who denies that a choice is even being made. I mean, there's no difference between abortion and stillborn, right? So, how could there have been a choice made?
So, if you believe the crap you wrote in your post about what is "the next logical step", then you, as a pro-choice man, deny choices are even being made. If you do not actually believe the crap you wrote, then you are just a blowhard, upset that the truck in Calgary shows the reality of abortion and you are powerless to logically refute its message.
fergusrush:
One of my favourite authors, Harlan Ellison, tells a story of being awoken by a phone call late one night, from a female fan who called to complain that she didn't understand what the point was of one of his stories.
Despite having been dragged out of a sound sleep, Ellison made a valiant attempt to explain the story to her, but to no avail. Finally, he lost patience and snapped (and I paraphrase):
"Lady, I've written 1,000 stories in my lifetime. You happened to read this one and you don't get it. So accept that you never will, and just move on, all right? And let me get back to sleep!"
Get the point, fergie, my adorable little retard? I wrote a post. Every other person who's read it understood the point I was making. You didn't, and it's obvious you never will.
So let's just agree on that and move on. Any further discussion will clearly be a waste of time, and the sooner that you accept that some of the things I write simply go right over your head, the better.
fergusrush said - "The pictures on the truck in Calgary show abortion for what it really is"
No, the pictures on the truck show aborted foetuses, posed for maximum emotional impact in ad format. They are carefully selected and positioned to induce feelings of guilt and anger.
To show abortion for what it really is, you would need to put it in the context of reality - not posed on a billboard. That is what I object most to about the foetus mobile. It does not offer an argument to ban abortion but seeks to circumvent other issues involved in the old debate by riding purely on the shock value of a staged picture forced on viewers in a suburban neighbourhood.
Abortion is more than a posed picture of a dead foetus on a billboard.
You are correct, 900fj, abortion is much more than what is displayed on the truck. But those pictures do show the results of an abortion, that is beyond dispute. It is extremely distasteful, to be sure, but it undeniably brings the debate into focus as to what is being discussed, allowing no room for euphemism. That the photos are posed, as you say, simply allows a sense of visual perspective. It cannot substitute for a debate, but it is not intended to; it is meant to clarify just what is being discussed.
fergusrush: "it is meant to clarify just what is being discussed"
Exellent. Even more clarity could be brought by showing some tasty pictures of the results of coat-hanger abortions in an environment where an alternative is made impossible. Is another truck available?
Pictures of any surgery would be equally distasteful. Like my knee surgery. Or Fergusrush's lobotomy.

Shorter CC: "He kicked my ass, but I called him names, so we're even. And now I'm going to pretend that it's beneath me to deal with the subject anymore."
....in the style you're so fond of.
Like I said: you are a blowhard.
Yes, Fergie, you've nailed it. I am a blowhard, and you have exposed me for the weaselly, non-intellectual hack that I am.
Whatever works for you, and makes you feel good so, sure, let's go with that storyline.
Feel better now?
