The readers and Marcus Gee.

It's nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks the Globe's Marcus Gee is a complete prat. From today's Globe, we have letter-writer David Hunter:

As most of the reasons put forth by George W. Bush's government for invading Iraq (weapons of mass destruction, connections with al-Qaeda) have been exposed as lies, only the disingenuous or foolhardy could continue to support these claims. If the intention was to root out the terrorists, Saudi Arabia would have been a more legitimate target, as it produced most of the 9/11 participants and the funding.

Thankfully, we are witnessing the twilight of the neo-con movement, evidenced by it being abandoned by its former leading lights (Francis Fukuyama etc.), as well as the indictments of Scooter Libby and Jack Abramoff.

Perhaps Marcus Gee would like to submit his name for consideration to replace Scott McLellan as press secretary for the Bush government?

But let's leave the last word for letter-writer A. A. Sayeed:

Marcus Gee's "common sense" defence of the invasion of Iraq (Neo-Con Idealists Are Still Right -- April 5) reminded me of the Monty Python skit with the pet-shop clerk refusing to admit that the parrot for sale is really quite dead.

Heh. Indeed.
