Robert McClelland and "The Big Con."

Over here, Robert has a running tally of what he calls CPC "disasters." It's not clear how something makes that list but here's a possible entry that would fall under the category of "flip flop":

PM relents, allows MPs to debate Afghanistan

Cross-party negotiations prompt reversal, but politicians still won't be allowed to vote

OTTAWA -- Bowing to weeks of opposition pressure, Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government reversed course yesterday and agreed to hold a parliamentary debate on the military mission in Afghanistan.

It is curious, though, the value of having a debate without allowing a followup vote. Kind of defeats the purpose, no?

THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT, the more I think Robert should refine that list since the word "disasters" is overly broad. Personally, I think it would be more useful to have specific sub-categories, such as "Broken campaign promises", "Hypocrisy", "Flip flops" and "CPC morals and family values."

Those really are distinct categories and most of what's on Robert's list would clearly fall into one, and only one, category. For instance, his February 6 entry describing how he appointed convicted criminal Vic Toews as the new Minister of Justice would be a no-brainer for the "CPC morals and family values" list. And so on.

Of course, it's Robert's list and he's welcome to continue documenting the atrocities any way he sees fit.
