Ooopsie.

The more things change, the more they stay the same ... at least as far as St. McCain and the Republicans are concerned. Via ThinkProgress:

Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that Iranian operatives are “taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back” — despite the fact that Iran is a Shiite nation and al Qaeda are Sunni fighters. Responding to reports of McCain’s factually inaccurate claim, the McCain campaign released a statement attempting to paint the senator’s fundamental error as an isolated slip of the tongue:

In a press conference today, John McCain misspoke and immediately corrected himself by stating that Iran is in fact supporting radical Islamic extremists in Iraq, not Al Qaeda — as the transcript shows. Democrats have launched political attacks today because they know the American people have deep concerns about their candidates’ judgment and readiness to lead as commander in chief.

The fact that McCain made identical remarks on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show as well makes it clear McCain did not simply “misspeak.” What’s more, McCain corrected himself only after Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) “stepped forward and whispered in the presidential candidate’s ear.”

I’m sorry but haven’t we just gone through eight very long years of misspeaking and misunderestimating and putting food on your family? And for all his vaunted “Straight Talk” and supposed “Maverick” status, McCain is, in this girl's humble opinion, the worst kind of cheap political whore. Which is really saying something when you've got Dubya and Big Daddy for comparison ... but I digress.

McCain has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that he’ll bend over for anyone, and I do mean anyone (Falwell, Bob Jones University, John “the apocalypse cometh” Hagee) as long they can help him get to the White House. Doesn't that just give you the ultimate warm and fuzzy?

We. Are. Doomed.

Yeah, McCain's a whore. I despise him most of all because he's fully aware of what he's doing.

It's too bad American liberals aren't menacing enough with their rightists, given the fact that their rightists want to assassinate them and do, all the time. They have an entirely unjustified understanding of their invincibility.

Someone needs call McCain a cocksucker, right to his face and in public.

The video of him spouting off about Al Queda and Iran where his devoted bum fiddler, Holy Joe, sheepishly corrects his glaring faux pas is just priceless. I hope the Dems run that on an endless loop. Perhaps then more Americans might realize that the Republican nominee for president is an addlepated geezer better suited to whiling away his remaining years playing cribbage at the Scottsdale Vets Hall, not leading the “free world” into the second decade of the 21st century.

ty-guy sez: "I despise [St. John] most of all because he's fully aware of what he's doing."

Well, ty-guy, maybe St. John does know what's he's doing. The point American liberals are fixated on is that he doesn't know what the Iranians are doing, what al Qeuda is doing, what the Iraqis are doing — I could go on but I'll close with — or, for that matter, what the US economy is doing.
