Wingnut welfare at the Post?

I'm sorry ... would that be our Stephen Taylor, expounding on the Tour de France? I'm just asking.

By the way, that's a blazingly stupid headline: "Armstrong now within seconds of leading Tour." He is not "within seconds" -- he is less than one second from taking the yellow jersey. But seeing as journalists aren't responsible for their headlines, I won't hold it against the writer.

This is a positive sign. Eventually, he'll end up in his true vocation...writing copy for Hallmark or The Shopping Channel, like his fellow auteur, Kathy Shaidle.

But do we know that that's our Stephen Taylor? It's possible it's a different one, but it sure would be amusing if Stephen is moonlighting from the Manning Centre for Building Democracy and Undermining Student Governments to make a few more bucks playing sports reporter.

Maybe there's some kind of taxation rule that you can't just shovel money at the wingnuts arbitrarily -- they have to at least pretend to earn it.

It indicates at the bottom that the story is from Bloomberg News (wire service). So unless ST has left the Manning Centre and moved to France to be a reporter for Bloomberg, I'd wager it's probably a different Stephen Taylor.

Besides, there's still democracy to build back home...

OK, so it's not the same one, and I have nothing to retract or correct since I very carefully qualified my post and openly admitted that it was possibly not him.

See, kids? That's how you blog responsibly.

Oh well. Good thing my snark wasn't original.
