I listened to a report on this on NPR's On the Media (a podcast I highly recommend, by the way) a couple of weeks ago. There is really something weird about "conservatives." I do believe their minds don't work properly.

Not surprising. These are the people for whom "faith-based" is a positive and "reality-based" a negative.

That's absolutely fascinating. Hmm. This also explains why conservatives seem to think it's worse for someone to change their position on an issue than to hold a dumbassed position in the first place. Could lend some insight into their attacks on Ignatieff.
