Really. Blogs enable discussions among people who would otherwise never know each other. They facilitate open expression. They are the 21st century equivalent of the town meeting (at serious sites), or vaudeville (at sites like mine), or the backyard fence (personal blogs). While people are afraid to meet up with 3D folks, they can learn all about someone in the next continent via the web. It sure beats living in isolation, or (horrors) living your life through the TV.
