Apparently, PM Stephen Harper just handed the U.S. a club with which to beat us regarding NAFTA and softwood lumber. Quoting from pogge:
The Conservative government will not pull out of the international Kyoto agreement on climate change even though it has no intention of meeting the deal's targets.
So ... replace "Kyoto agreement" with "NAFTA" and "climate change" with "softwood lumber" and you have a completely analogous situation where the U.S. can now, with a clear conscience, claim that they're not "pulling out" of NAFTA, they just have no intention of honouring it.
