Deja vu all over again.

From a Canadian perspective, does this sound eerily familiar?

Senators to push for $100 gas rebate checks

Every American taxpayer would get a $100 rebate check to offset the pain of higher pump prices for gasoline, under an amendment Senate Republicans hope to bring to a vote Thursday.

Think hard -- it'll come to you.

It seems the new Tory $1200 childcare bribe is going to amount to about $100 after provincial clawbacks and the scuttling of the child tax exemption.

Again, paraphrasing David Cross in Shut Up You Fucking Baby :

"$300? You're going to give me $300?
And all I gotta do in return is let you change the rules in the legislature and the judiciary and make your rich friends a whole lot richer. What's the catch here?"
