My entirely misplaced Blogging Tory optimism.
Ah, silly me. Back here, I suggested that, even given the initial deafening silence from Stephen Taylor's Blogging Tories on Afghanistan's shiny, new "Rape your wife" legislation, once the Harper government itself started to bad-mouth it, the BT collective would immediately be the obedient lapdogs they always are and join in the carefully-choreographed baying.
No chance.
One can wander over to the BTs and scan the main page in vain for even the slightest hint of discomfort. A curious development, wouldn't you say, for a group of wanks who, for so long, have defended our mission over there by yapping on about how we're doing it for the girls. Or the women. Or whatever.
On the other hand, what you will find are outraged articles regarding, um, Obama and the Queen. And Obama and the Queen. And dog DNA. And Obama and the Queen.
The women of Afghanistan can, I'm sure, take consolation in the fact that, according to the priorities of Stephen Taylor's Blogging Tories, they rank somewhere below dog turd identification in Edmonton. But, hopefully, not too far. That would be embarrassing.

Raphael used the occasion to take a poke at me, cheered on by the repulsive Terry Glavin.
Shorter "Raphael Alexander": "New legislation in Afghanistan strips women of some basic rights. That reminds me of something Dr. Dawg once wrote ..."
I didn't even go check. Did I get that about right?
Close:
"The legislation shouldn't be allowed and NATO should step in. But we shouldn't abandon the mission like the morally bankrupt leftist Dr. Dawg wants us to do."
Incidentally, for the second time in a week, Maggie Wente has penned a column that looks as though she reads my blog. First on Twitter; now, this morning, a surprisingly progressive column on Afghanistan that matches my post yesterday almost point-for-point. I've asked her flat-out if she's a lurker, but so far no response.
