I was planning on giving this our standard “shorter” treatment but to be completely honest, it needs to be reproduced in it’s breathtakingly retarded entirety, typos and all, so you can truly appreciate it.
it is always interesting to read of the horror of the communist system. A system that many on the left whole heartedly supported and some stiil do today. It was paradise for no one but the politburo. The socialist paradise was hell on earth. maybe all those who so love Castro and his cronies should remeber that the Cuban peopl are also watched in the same way.

Of course, we won't talk about how the PATRIOT act and its derivatives have undermined privacy and liberty now will we?
*sigh*
Who, exactly, loves Castro? Who, exactly, supports "the communist system"?
Oh, that's right, only the people in Dr Roy's fevered imagination.
Союз нерушимый республик свободных
Сплотила навеки Великая Русь!
Да здравствует созданный волей народов
Единый, могучий Советский Союз...
...and the horse you rode in on, Dr. Roy, you capitalist running dog!
Aw...don't be too hard on typoists. Some of my favorite blogging buddies can't seem to get their fingers untangled at the best of times! Dylsexia lures!
And as for embracing the "breathtakingly retarded"...why do you do this to yourself? Don't you have a sense of synaptical self-preservation? :)
I left a comment calling the good doctor a friggin liar. Don't expect it to appear anytime soon...
it is always interesting to read of the horror of the fascist system....

I have family in the former East Germany. One cousin in particular when he came to visit (after the wall) told me about other family members that were forced to spy on their family. Some made up stories just to get favours (better food), others to get better jobs. I just recently saw the film "das leben der anderen" (The Lives Of Others) and was horrified. The communist system is bad, just one persons view...ciao
...as opposed to how Russia works now as a crime-ridden, neoliberal, oligarchy populated by robber barons lording over a population desperate to curry whatever favours they can to survive...
Remember when John Ashcroft was trying to set up civil neighborhood surveillance to report 'suspicious' Americans?
...actually Putin throws anyone in jail or has them murdered if they don't agree with him, as for Ashcroft; I don't recall that he was able to get away with it, was he? Communism destroyed my family, my mother's family and I will forever hate it...ciao
Well, we don't care. We're liberals and lefties...we love communism!
Communism is the tits, man!
wait a minute: i thought it was we americans who were dumb....

Actually, Castro remains extremely popular with the ageing segment of the Cuban population which predates his rise to power. In otherwords, Castro is popular with everyone who experienced the alternative. It's only young folks who grew up comparing life in Cuba under Castro to life on American TV who have a problem with him.
Also note that Cuba has managed to produce one of the best medical systems in the world, despite being under embargo by the US and its allies for around half a century.
I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a Castro supporter, but I'd certainly vote for him over Bush, Harper, or any of their many clones.
Oh, and as far as the communist system being bad - the soviets NEVER PRACTICED COMMUNISM. They practiced state capitalism, and called it communism. State capitalism is simply a capitalist economic system where membership of the capitalist class is determined directly by the political system.
Socialism can be recognized instantly by the fact that the price of goods in a socialist system is equal to the costs of producing those goods and bringing them to market. In a capitalist system, the cost of goods is inflated by the need to provide profits to non-contributors.
This is a simple litmus test for socialism. And soviet Russia fails it. They were capitalists, just very oppressive ones.
