Grab a spot on the couch …

And get comfy because the hits just keep on coming. From today’s Canadian Press:

A troubling new allegation about large amounts of cash arriving at 24 Sussex Drive when Brian Mulroney was prime minister will be aired at the Commons ethics committee.

The committee is set to reconvene next week when the Commons returns from a six-week break.

MPs are looking into the decade-long relationship between the former Tory prime minister and arms lobbyist Karlheinz Schreiber.

Norman Spector, a former chief of staff to Mulroney in the early 1990s, says he'll be bringing documentary evidence to the committee.

Spector, writing in Le Devoir newspaper, says he'll "help identify the source of large quantities of money carried to 24 Sussex while Mr. Mulroney was prime minister of Canada."

A spokesman for Mulroney says the allegations are old news and that Spector has an axe to grind, for reasons the former prime minister does not understand.

Between the ever-changing story on the Afghan detainees and now this, we really need popcorn.

I don't think most people give a rat's ass about this pompous old windbag. The best thing he could do for his "legacy" is die.

RT, he doesn't DARE die. People can still remember what happened when Trudeau died. Mulroney's death will be more like when the old uncle who used to get drunk at parties and make crude passes at your wife. Yes, you have to bury him, and pretend you give a damn, but in reality everyone's really embarassed by having to put on a show of grief.

I AM mean enough to hope he snuffs it with Conservatives in power. No one could expect a Liberal government to do anything more than what's proper. I can just see Harper giving him a state funeral and forbidding his cabinet to attend!

Indeed RT...if he actually was out of the picture, how many old cogers who still vote Conservative because they think they are the same as the Progressive Conservatives would wake up and realize they have been duped by the Reform party.
