And here's where we juxtapose ...

Blogging Tory "Northwest Tory" is, well, miffed:

Well Toronto Mayor David Miller is desperate too. He is addressing the public using the public address system on TTC Subway platforms too urge the Ontario Gov't. to not cut funding too Transit City...

I thought it was unethical for him to criticize somebody, even if it is other politicians, in public. Because Mayor Miller is only thinking of himself, and his legacy. And is doing it at someone else's expense. It's the Ontario Gov't. that is using taxpayer's money for public transit. Miller's taking the credit, and using it for his legacy.

Fuckin' A! Using public funds to pimp and preen. What kind of useless, unethical douchebag pulls that kind of shit? Oh ...

Tory aide tried to suppress $5-million Olympic ad bill

A senior Conservative official repeatedly intervened last month to try and suppress the revelation that Ottawa spent $5-million on a TV advertising blitz surrounding the Vancouver Olympics, new records show.

In a tense exchange of e-mails over a two-day period, ministerial aide Ryan Sparrow blocked attempts by bureaucrats to reveal the price tag of the ads that aimed to promote Conservative budgetary measures.

Are we done here? Yeah, I think we're done here.

Pretty pathetic how easily thwarted the media is in this country.

I read this on dr roy's blog this morning:
If you are a u of o alumnus, left your uni know that you want the whole admin to be fired. Stop giving this organization money until rock and his co censors are shown the door.

I have to laugh because dr roy in on the alumni committee of Marianapolis college in Montreal...

I think that maybe ex-students should stop giving to that school if dr roy is representing them...

During their silent auctions, I wonder if the dr has a habit of donating booze and receiving a tax credit... A kind of re-gifting.... Someone should look into that....

How effective is the education at Marianapolis college in Montreal if one looks at the basic spelling and grammar of dr roy? He now uses spell checking so the words are spelt correctly but the meaning is still mudfortunate....

What do you suggest The Globe should have done in this instance?

I dunno. I'm not a reporter. But I thought they had, you know, skills. Wrong again, I guess.

Well, what's missing here is a civil service contact who'd have leaked the information to The Globe to get around the obstruction to the FOI request. And that's what bugs me the most about these trumped up PA's like Ryan Sparrow; at this rate, they're going to turn everyone in the civil service into little snitches over every trivial detail of public information.

The Globe and the rest of the media really need to go after these little bastards. Political staff are particularly vulnerable to such a backlash and they've been getting away with far too much.

I guess. Or they could learn how to effectively gather the news. Relying on Access to Information requests is pretty lame. Sure, the government is petty and evil, but it's not like reporters shouldn't know that by now. There aren't any secrets in government. And there are all kinds of agency people working in government who don't take any kind of oath. Our media prefers being told what to print via government press releases.
